All grey everything trend

When will it end? Moved home and looking to decorate. Everything I seem to see is grey or blush/dusty/dusky pink. I'm currently sat on a brown leather sofa which I know is a Mumsnet No-no, before I get berated. I know people have different tastes but seriously soo many crushed velvet sofas and mirrored furniture.

Just get what you personally like and ignore the trends .. y. You'll

It started with ‘Fifty Shades of Gray’- me thinks 😂

whyispeppainthenightgarden · 19/10/2018 22:09

Is brown leather really a mn no no ? Yanbu I hate crushed velvet sofas

Solderingiron · 19/10/2018 22:12

Yes bored of the grey thing too, at least it has to die at some point! I think a brown leather sofa sounds nice and so practical. My friend bought a light grey material sofa and now a year later it's absolutely filthy whereas our brown material sofa is still going strong 5 years later.

Moominfan · 19/10/2018 22:13

I admittedly envious of fabric sofas but I have a toddler and a cat. It's just not worth the heartache

I’m also sitting on a brown leather sofa! Although admittedly against a grey wall. Is that not allowed

Rarfy · 19/10/2018 22:17

Just bought our first home and feel exactly the same.

We have a brown sofa not leather and have opted for duck egg but if you want anything patterned in that colour it has grey in it.

Furrydogmum · 19/10/2018 22:46

I've just painted my lounge a tasteful and scrubbable shade of grey and bought a brown leather sofa - cos dogs make the walls and furniture grimy and this combination is perfect for us 😊

Crunchymum · 19/10/2018 22:48

Love my brown leather sofa!! And my magnolia walls. And my break carpets Shock

Not a speck of grey in sight.

CheshireChat · 19/10/2018 23:15

Love grey so I'm happy to see it used more, not keen on warm colours which is probably why.

The crushed velvet and mirrored/overly glittery furniture makes my head hurt though.

7salmonswimming · 19/10/2018 23:21

What’s the alternative though? We’ve had 50 shades of white, 50 shades of grey, and actually colours (blue, yellow, green) just aren’t as versatile.

I can only think that the next trend will be multi-colours Shock

WitchyKitten · 19/10/2018 23:25

I quite like the dusty pink trend but grey is just so miserable!
I don't know how anybody can live an all grey house.

RedPandaMama · 19/10/2018 23:25

I hate the grey trend! My house is multicoloured madness but I love it and it seems so homely.

I love Mrs Hinch but hate her house. It looks nice but looks like a showhome, so souless and sad feeling. Can't imagine ever feeling cosy somewhere like that.

BUT everyone is different and some people's horrible is someone else's beautiful. We can all decorate our houses to our tastes.

AiryFairyUnicornRainbow · 19/10/2018 23:25

Oh god, Grey has taken over from Beige

I hate it, its such a non colour that I must admit I used to think Grey was classic, but now its everwhere....and has gone the same way as Beige...Or laminate flooring lol

Moominfan · 20/10/2018 12:30

It's mrs hinches house that got me thinking! Soo much grey. Would love to see a splash of colour.
