Dd is three in a couple of months.
She is 103cm
Her weight is 3st and 2lbs
She doesn’t appear to eat anymore than her peers and she is active. I’ve tried to up her activity levels and have cut out biscuits etc although she has the occasional ice cream when out.
She was big born and has been big ever since. She seems to gain weight very easily and not lose it. I don’t want her to lose so much as maintain but grow.

Is she huge compared to others? She doesn’t look that huge on her own but she is much bigger than others her own age I can see when we are out. She is taller too... dad is 6ft 6 and her brother is also very tall.

My dd is just 3. She's 98cm tall and weighs spot on 2st and has size 8.5 feet. She's tall and skinny.

SoyDora · 19/10/2018 21:27

3.3 year old weighs 2 stone 12lbs.
4.11 year old weighs 2 stone 9lbs!

maamalady · 19/10/2018 21:32

My 4yo DD is about 94cm tall and about 14kg (approx 2st 2lb). She's the smallest of all her friends, and one of (if not the) smallest in her year group

maamalady · 19/10/2018 21:34

Pressed post too soon

DD is also obviously slender - muscle, skin, and bone and not much else. It's a job keeping her warm in winter, she's got no insulation.

DD2 (aged 2.5) is following the same pattern...

Cuzcospoison · 19/10/2018 21:38

My DS is almost 4 and is 103cm and 2st 8lb ish. He has just had a growth spurt and is looking quite skinny - he was 100cm and 2st6 at the start of the summer.

If she seems healthy and isn’t carrying excess weight around her middle too much, I wouldn’t worry. It’s only a problem if it’s affecting her health or lifestyle.

Pompom42 · 19/10/2018 21:40

97cm and 2 Stone 2
She is 3 and 9 months

HidingFromMyKids · 19/10/2018 21:41

DD 4
101cm
2 stone 4lbs

CheeseCrackersAndWine · 19/10/2018 21:41

My DD has a genetic condition but is 3 years & 1 month old and 11kgs (1stone 10) and approx 91cms tall

SolemnlySwear2010 · 19/10/2018 21:45

My just turned 4 year old is 2 stone 9 and is 101 cm.

She is on the small side compared to her peers. She eats like a horse though - think she is just naturally on the slimmer side (like my husband)

Cotswoldmama · 19/10/2018 21:46

My two nearly 3 year old and my 5 nearly size year old weigh nearly the same amount! Just under 3 stone! My youngest is only about 90cm maybe a bit more it's a while since I've measured him and my eldest is about 110cm. They eat about the same but my eldest runs everywhere and my youngest is so much slower I end up carrying him to keep up with my eldest!

cadburyegg · 19/10/2018 21:50

DS1 is 3 years 8 months and weighs 2st 1lb / 13.5kg. Not sure on height. He is a skinny thing though, we always have to buy adjustable trousers otherwise they fall down.

TakeOffYourJudgyPants · 19/10/2018 21:57

My DD is the same age and roughly the same weight and height. She was big at birth and stayed that way since

neverhadanymarblestolose · 19/10/2018 21:58

I have 2 children and both eat the same kinds of foods and portion sizes. There is over a 3 year age gap, but only 1lb difference between them!

3y 8m is 104cm and weighs 2st 8lbs
7y is 118cm and weighs 2st 9lbs

Honestly don't worry about it. As long as she eats mostly healthily and is generally active, you're doing a good job.

Breadfoam · 19/10/2018 22:05

Yes bmi calculator puts her as very overweight.
I mentioned it at her 2 and a half year check as she was the same then but the hv just said her height and weight plotted the same centiles so she didn’t seem bothered.
Yes she does look too fat.
She doesn’t drink milk or fruit juice in the day but she does have a glass of milk at bedtime. In the day otherwise she drinks waters or very weak sugar free squash.
She quite often won’t eat any breakfast but if she does it tends to be half a slice of toast or a small bowl of cereal.
In fact she doesn’t eat much all day, she tends to eat most in the evenings which isn’t ideal but seems to be how she is. She will often go all day without eating anything bar an apple or half a slice of toast but then will eat a full plate (side plate not full size plate) of whatever meal she’s having.
I see other children her age eating crisps, biscuits etc and I know it’s only a snapshot and I don’t know what they have the rest of the time but I feel like for what she eats she is very heavy.
Ds ate much more at the same age and was not as heavy.

My nearly 5 year old eats way way more than my 3 year old and weighs a kg less. Nearly 5 year old is underweight according to BMI, 3 year old is overweight. Both active. DD1 has my physique, DD2 has DH’s. At her 2 year check the HV was surprised DD2 weighs as much as she does as she doesn’t look fat. It’s baffling! I’m just sticking with what we’re doing (plenty of physical activity, healthy diet).

HighwayDragon1 · 20/10/2018 08:22

My nearly 9 year old is 125cm and around 3.5stone.

I disagree with those swing it doesn't matter, it does, change now won't be noticed but let it carry on and it will be much more difficult to shift. Remember that you should be able to see ribs! Reduce portion sizes and exercise levels.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 20/10/2018 08:27

14kg and 92cm at 3 years (2.2 stone)

Cachailleacha · 20/10/2018 09:03

I mentioned it at her 2 and a half year check as she was the same then but the hv just said her height and weight plotted the same centiles so she didn’t seem bothered.

Not really. Weight looks to be on the 99.6th% line and height on the 98th% for 3 years. 98th% for weight would be 18kg or 2st 11.

triwarrior · 21/10/2018 01:27

From what you've said it doesn't sound as though she's overeating, but FWIW I would get rid of the squash, however weak it is. Although saguaro is not good, it's often "better" than the artificial sweeteners added to sugar-free drinks.

triwarrior · 21/10/2018 01:27

Sugauro? Sugar!

Caterina99 · 21/10/2018 02:03

DS is 3 and 4 months
107cm and 2 stone 10
Very tall. Eats like a horse but is never ever still. And he comes from tall slim genes

Cherries101 · 21/10/2018 02:19

That she’s not hungry in the day suggests she needs to be more active. Get her into sports (try every thing possible in your area) and she might be hungrier. Also eating a big meal in the evening that you then don’t burn will automatically make her less hungry for breakfast. Switch things up temporarily a few times a week with a light meal in the evening and see what she does.

Cherries101 · 21/10/2018 02:20

At that age you can’t really go by her height / weight, you need to look at her too. If she looks overweight and you can’t see her ribs or she has rolls of fat then she probably needs to lose weight

Jeanclaudejackety · 21/10/2018 02:45

My Yr 5 niece is 4 stone and size 12 shoes but her sister is in reception so age 4 and is 3 stone and size 10 shoes! All kids are very different

Yura · 21/10/2018 05:50

@Breadfoam a small bowl of cereal is a normal sized breakfast for a child her age, not “almost nothing”. there are guides online on portion size for children, they will beca lot smaller than you will expect. My 5 year old eats a small bowl of porridge with fruit for breakfast, and it is plenty!
