Trains and being 11

I am having a real panic about my child travelling by train and thinking of changing my secondary school choice as a result. There has been an incident recently involving a fight with kids from another school. Not a regular thing but AIBU to think the bus is safer?!

YABVU. Trains are fine. Far worse stuff goes on on school buses/public buses with loads of school kids in my experience - fights left, right and centre.

YABU.

Nothing in life is risk free. Please teach your DC how to handle risky situations that they may encounter.

Plus, on a train you can just walk to another carriage. Your child will soon figure out which kids are the fighty ones and are to be avoided. He/she can just get in a different carriage or take the next train.

Plus, as you’ve said, it was a rare event. This kind of stuff happens on school/public buses every single day.

YABU
Unless you mean a school bus fights probably occur more on buses than trains in this area as most of the people who start them somehow qualify for free bus passes
