I commonly see the above type of comment on MN. Now it is up to you whether someone spends time with your child. But I honestly don't understand why someone can not see that it is totally different to spend time with a baby or child without their parent being there.
If I am alone with a bay or child I will sing funny songs (I can not sing), behave silly and make them laugh. I feel too self conscious with most adults to do that when they are watching me - and parents always do. I can do it with DP watching me, but not others. So my interactions with babies and kids are much more stilted when parents are around.
I suspect this is not unusual.
