Looking for a new job. Not so much success so far unfortunately :( I applied for a couple of jobs Monday/Tuesday and haven't heard back. Should I give it more time? What should I do ?

Just wait.

if you haven't got it, they might not even contact you at all.
at least that's been my experience in the last couple of years.

if you've not heard anything by 2 weeks, assume you're not successful and crack on.

It so hard isn’t it, just applying and waiting to hear back. I am due to start a new job in two weeks after not working for a while.
Most of the jobs I applied for are in the NHS, it’s normally about three weeks before they let you know if you have been shortlisted.
Just keep going OP, apply for as many things as you can and I’m sure you’ll get an interview.

Crystalblue13 · 19/10/2018 10:17

I applied for loads of different jobs and normally only heard anything if I had an interview

ADastardlyThing · 19/10/2018 10:17

All you can do is wait. Its not unusual to not hear for a few weeks.

Mia1415 · 19/10/2018 10:20

I'd wait. I'm an HR Manager and I'm working from home today trying to go through 100's of applications I've received for jobs.

Recruiters generally don't read applications as soon as they are received and it can take a few weeks to hear back often.

Good luck!

Did the adverts say when the application closes? I recently got a job after not hearing from them for 3 weeks after application and it was just because the date it closed and the number of applications

Namechange1907 · 19/10/2018 10:37

Neither of them said when will the application close. One sent me an automatic reply saying if I don't hear back in 7 days my application was not successful

I know how you feel, it is so frustrating :(
All you can do is keep looking and applying. Good luck! X

just try not to take anything personally.

after my redundancy i applied for 30-40 roles.
got to 2nd interview stage a few times, without being successful.
was starting to wonder if it was just me.

just need to ignore the rejections, and keep going!
(easier said than done, i know)
