I have the chance of a day out in Ipswich. It will mean a 6 hour round trip, although the journey will be broken.
It’s actually a pub crawl but I won’t be involved in that - might meet up fo have lunch or something.
Is there anything else I can do? Any recommendations?

Christchurch park and Mansion are nice to visit or take a walk along the new waterfront.

There was. a sight seeing bus hop on hop off one that took in all the sights.

You can go to the old airport (now housing estate) trip across Orwell bridge. Felixstowe view point.

See the construction of the £2 million water feature on the town square and pounder the eternal question WHY!

Primark is good and we have an abundance of charity shops and £1 shops.

A pub crawl shouldn’t take long in the center as the number of pubs is dwindling by the day.

Oh and don’t forget your stab jacket.

I honestly wouldn't bother, especially if there's a 6 hour journey. There's very little to do or see.

The waterfront area is nice for lunch other than that not much.

Don't bother 😄
I avoid the place as far as possible and it would be less than 1/2 hr round trip for me!
I genuinely can't think of a single thing to do.

What to see in Ipswich?

See if you can get on a bus to somewhere else! Grin

There's really not that much to see in the town. Woodbridge is nearby & has a nicer town centre. Are you going by car? Rendlesham Forest is about a 30 minute drive away - there is a UFO walk which is quite fun. Not an option by public transport unfortunately.

Colchester might be a better option for sightseeing.

The best view of Ipswich is the “Welcome to Ipswich” sign viewed form your rear view mirror

Jimmy farm is on out skirts of Ipswich. Or you could visit one of these places Flatford, Dedham, Lavenham, Aldeburgh, Mistley, Felixstowe.

Thanks ever so much. It’s an hour to get to the starting point then public transport I think - it’s an organized trip so not really any scope for deviation. I’m thinking I might have a better time staying at home and doing the washing up.
Thanks again really appreciate you taking the time to advise!

Have you tried the Ed Sheeran trail at Christchurch Manor? Free entry, the kids loved it. www.made-in-suffolk.co.uk/
