to pack makeup in my hospital bag?

Wasn't going to pack it as thought I probably wouldn't be arsed about makeup. Friend just had a baby and she looks gorgeous in her hospital photos. She's gorgeous anyway but she put on makeup for them and just looks absolutely stunning! This is a very trivial post but WIBU to expect to even have time or want to put my face on? Did you?

Doesn't hurt to pack it just in case.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 16/10/2018 10:02

I would do mascara. Full-on contouring etc. will probably be a bit distracting!

And good luck with the birth Smile

I had loads of time after ds 1 was born, he was healthy and very placid. Ds2 was ill, and very high needs, so didn't have time for anything that wasn't his needs.

I say pack it, and you can see how it goes! If you feel well and baby is doing well too then there's no reason why you can't have your make up. Might make you feel a bit more normal!

Mrsglitterfairy · 16/10/2018 10:11

I had make up and straighteners in my hospital bag both times. After my 1st I was in for 2 days and wanted to look decent for visitors so used it but after my 2nd we were both so poorly I didn’t bother. Pack it, you might use it, you might not.

Eatmycheese · 16/10/2018 10:13

Every time with my three babies I put my face on the next morning / the same day.
But I wear make up every day. Just takes five minutes just stops me looking like one of the Walking Dead and I actually feel better.

GreenLantern53 · 16/10/2018 10:17

why wouldnt you? unless you didnt normally wear makeup? i normally wear make up anyway so always packed it.

Irlaith · 16/10/2018 10:18

why wouldnt you?

Good point!

I had a section and put make up on (with permission from the docs) for the section- they are pics I will have out for years to come so wanted a bit of help looking fresh!

Aprilislonggone · 16/10/2018 10:30

Took face cream, concealer for the bags!! Eye liner and mascara. And hand cream. Very warm +dry in hospital and you will be washing your hands a lot!!.

Snipples · 16/10/2018 10:33

Yep I took makeup and it made me feel tonnes better and more like myself. Do it.

noeffingidea · 16/10/2018 10:33

If you normally wear make up and feel better for it I would take it. See how you feel afterwards.

Lazypuppy · 16/10/2018 10:34

@Irlaith i did and my hairdryer/straighteners. I knew i wanted to have the photo's done at the hospital so wanted to look half decent!

Madr sure i had a shower once my partner came in the following morning which helped me to feel a lot better!

TheLastNigel · 16/10/2018 10:43

Win my first baby I didn't out Male yo for six months it seemed-couldn't find the time Confusedwith dd2 I was fully made up in the hospital 12 hours after she was born waiting to be picked up. I'd pack it just in case as like pp said there will be photos and what not.

Lana1234 · 16/10/2018 10:43

Defo take it.bI didn’t pack it in my bag but ended up staying a couple of nights. My partner went to get some bits from home (and feed the cats) and I was like “please just bring as much make up as you can” Grin felt a lot better for putting my face on

Cinnabunbun · 16/10/2018 10:46

I wish I'd had my lashes and brows dyed and a some kind of keratin magic treatment done on my hair so that I didn't look so unwell and crazed for the early days
