I am really shocked and outraged by this.

Can someone explain to me how in 2018 a school staffed by educated people think it's acceptable to restrain a child in this way.

What amazes me most is apparently nobody raised any concerns about this. They were so happy with what they were doing that they put pictures up for the parents.

why have we not got a banging your head off a wall emoji AngryAngry

I can believe it. I did supply work in a private Montessori school once where they strapped a 4 year old boy into a babies highchair. I never went back and I reported it.
What often happens is other staff don't speak up because they don't want to undermine, cause a stir or start a scene.
Some people can have all the training in the world but they still think they know what's best for kids. It's usually some old fashioned nonsense as well.

I just feel so sad for this non verbal child.

How we treat the most vulnerable in society is important and the lack of publicity this has raised even here in NI is depressing.
