To wish there were tights in the world that don’t bloody fall down?

Winter is coming, and with it my propensity to live in tights. I love them... but I hate them, because no matter what brand or size, they all work themselves down until the gusset is hanging at mid-thigh and I am waddling like a penguin. Leggings don’t to this, so why do tights? I have seriously considered putting extra pants on over them to keep the buggers up as, in a dress, you can’t even pull the damn things up without sloping off to the bathroom.

Please help me mumsnet - how do I keep my stupid tights up???

Big pants over the tights. Problem solved. Stops them falling down and holds my wobbly tum in. Win win.

MaxPepsi · 22/10/2018 18:39

My favourites are warm legs. They are thermal.
Do comfy. I'm a heiffer and have no issues with them rolling or falling down.

BingerGeer · 22/10/2018 18:47

Heist stay up but they do ladder from the waist, which is weird.

AsleepAllDay · 22/10/2018 19:00

Me

Blueroses99 · 22/10/2018 19:04

I’ve ordered Snag tights off the back of this thread and they are actually amazing Smile

LimpyLampy · 22/10/2018 19:04

Mine used do this. I read on MN it happens when you are wearing too small a size for you. I sized up and hey presto they stayed up!

Alconleigh · 22/10/2018 19:07

Knickers then tights then more knickers?! Hells teeth but that's a lot of gusset. Mind you I wear holdups Rather than tights so my views are largely useless to this thread! Have noted Snag though in case I want tights in the future.

VanGoghsDog · 22/10/2018 20:07

Well, I used their size chart and I have no idea what other way to choose the size.

VanGoghsDog · 22/10/2018 20:11

Until I got the Snag tights I was wearing two pairs of knickers and it wasn't working.

I don't want thermal tights, I'd be boiling!

I can't size up on the Snag tights, they're already really loose. They are more comfy than other tights, less digging in at the waist. But no good if they just slide down.

Mummyoftwo91 · 22/10/2018 20:16

I used to be a hca and wore tights every day, I must have tried so many across different brands and price ranges and the best ones were the cheapest of the cheap Tesco own brand! They always stayed put

ThatsYouThatIs · 22/10/2018 20:36

Another one who has converted to maternity tights here. I'm apple shaped with a fairly long body and normal tights would just dig in at the waist and never stay up.
Maternity ones go right up to my bra and don't really seem to fall down. Also look better under dresses as it's far less obvious where the top is - ones that finish at my waist make me look like a sausage!
It won't work for everyone but worth trying if you struggle with getting tights to stay on your waist.

Katinkka · 31/10/2018 23:38

Update. Loving the ‘snag’ tights. So comfy. What a relief. I like the slate ones best. My only criticism is that I’d like different kinds of materials . I think they only do 80 denier ones and I like thicker ones sometimes. Or woolly ones.

VanGoghsDog · 31/10/2018 23:40

Snag refunded my six pairs and said I didn't have to send them back.

I bought two pairs of Heist and they stay up! But I suspect they are like maternity tights really.

saganorenscarandcoat · 01/11/2018 07:12

I solve this problem by wearing a suspender belt (I have a few with 6 straps rather than 4) and hold ups and never have the worry about them falling down.

danishkids · 01/11/2018 07:50

Skotter vore here for maternity tights, from h &m. They sit so well all day! And aren’t that expensive :) they are my go to tights.

seekingclarity · 01/11/2018 08:07

Just ordered 2 pairs of Snag tights. I normally resort to trousers in winter as I hate tights so much. Hope they are good.

Poodles1980 · 01/11/2018 08:22

Another vote for heist. Brilliant tights. I also like falke

Bestseller · 01/11/2018 08:27

I'm 5'7, size 10 and and buy M&S large which are fine. Medium are too short and fall down. I don't know what you're supposed to do if you are actually "large"

TheOnlyPink · 01/11/2018 08:34

Chiming in with another vote for snag for any plus size mnetters wondering! I'm 5 7 and size 22/24 and tights that come in my size are like hens teeth, let alone good. Heist don't do plus size. But snag are amazing. comfy, and they stay up. No digging in, no rolling. Revelation! size
And I really like the colours!

lubeybooby · 01/11/2018 08:36

heist with the wide waistband

just went back to m&s ones and regretted it half an hour into wear.

Back to heist for me

Invisimamma · 01/11/2018 08:40

What's the sizing like on snag tights?

I've tried a few other brands and nothing stays up. I have a large tummy! And resorting to leggings but that only works with boots.

Wonkypalmtree · 01/11/2018 09:22

I hate tights, I get muffin top, my own fault for being flabby and the gusset always comes down,. I use hold ups, 5ft 9 with very long legs

VanGoghsDog · 01/11/2018 09:33

No way on earth would I wear a suspender belt, there is nothing more uncomfortable!

If anyone wants to try Snag tights and are a D (see their size chart), I have two black fifty den, and three nude sheer or whatever they are called. Happy to post out one at a time for people to try. No point me wearing them as they just fell down on me and Snag have refunded and said I don't have to send them back. Seems like a win win to me if people can get to try them.

PurpleFlower1983 · 01/11/2018 09:35

Cycling shorts over the top - very sexy! Grin

Toughtips · 01/11/2018 10:13

Im surprised that this hasn't been mentioned yet but the shaper tights... Next do a really good shape tight that never fall down. So id assume any shaper tight would ve the samw.
