To wish there were tights in the world that don’t bloody fall down?

Winter is coming, and with it my propensity to live in tights. I love them... but I hate them, because no matter what brand or size, they all work themselves down until the gusset is hanging at mid-thigh and I am waddling like a penguin. Leggings don’t to this, so why do tights? I have seriously considered putting extra pants on over them to keep the buggers up as, in a dress, you can’t even pull the damn things up without sloping off to the bathroom.

Please help me mumsnet - how do I keep my stupid tights up???

I’ve found that Boots tights are the only ones that don’t fall/roll down. M & S are the worst.

Size up, and I mean size UP.

According to the packets, I should wear a size small/medium. I'm 5"2.

Most of my tights are large. They never fall down.

I bought a pair of Heist tights and laddered them when I put them on for the first time Shock

The problem with sizing up is you get Nora Batty ankles. I’ve ordered a pair of Snag tights.

I bought some snags the other day and they stayed up all day when I was at a wedding. I'm very happy to finally have some tights that aren't awful to wear.

I just want to find some bloody tights that don't rip or snag on my nails when I'm putting them on. My nails arent even long, but I ruined two pairs trying to wear tights on Saturday and ended up going without.

I wore some X2 bigger than the chart said. They stayed up so much better.

But I have the problem that all rights seem to hurt my toes. Really pulls back on my nails. Socks don't do this. And even the larger tights last week eventually hurt my toes.

I haven't got long nails! I deliberately cut them beforehand Blush

Am I the only one who has this? I can't wait to rip them off after a few hours.

Wait! No need to spend a fortune, primarks tights are fantastic, I wear them everyday! They last forever, wash well and never ever fall down Grin

That's you Strawberry, on me they are no different to any other tights.

I've recently accidentally bought some Next tights and they come up to my chin so they are not quite as bad as all the other brands.

Contravertial, but maternity tights. When I went back to work after having DC1 I realised my only tights in the drawer were maternity ones so had to wear them on my first day back, and they were so comfy, came all the way to my bra and no falling down at all.

I find Boots tights to be very good too. I'm a classic apple shape and a size 16-18. I get XL and they pull up over my stomach. Never have any problems.

Snag tights here as well - after decades of me refusing to wear tights at all because I end up with MC Hammer crotch by 9.10am they actually work!

Another vote for snag. I had no idea so many people resorted to an extra pair of knickers over tights - never heard of that before!!

Apparently all tights are the same width, biggest sizes are just longer. Snag actually changed the machinery to different widths etc. I really want their shorts for chub rub!

I really like Heist tights though you have to avoid pulling on a certain bit of the waistband or they ladder. But really comfy and no Nora batty ankles.

I keep meaning to order more Snag tights - just never have the spare cash - but it was a blessed relief to put tights on and sit down and not have that lovely moment where you can feel them begin to ever-so-slowly roll down over your belly in the middle of something you're trying to look mature and professional in.

Ordered Snag tights wearing for the first time today, they fall down just as much as any other tights. Totally useless. Walk from Euston to St P I must have hitched them up about five times. On train now and they are rolled down under my tummy and bunched up in the crotch.

I'm sending the rest back.

Heist are amazing. The first tights I have tried that stay up. Pricey but worth it.
