Is it just me who can't find a nice pair of boots that fit my huge calves! Ok, mbe not huge but definitely on the chunky side.

Duoboots

Angie169 · 14/10/2018 21:33

I have the same problem , plus I am a size 8 - wide in most women's footwear, I tend to buy mens trainers and work boots as they are wider .
The only place i can get ladies calf length boots are places like Evens and Simply Be . I bought a back pair from SB a few weeks ago for £40 and like them a lot so went back to get a tan pair yesterday ( dont look at me like that its about 3 years since I bought any footwear other that steel toe caps ) only to find the shop has shut down .
Due to the complicated shifts I work ordering them on line is a no go as it is hard to predict if I am going to be of work when they get delivered .

black pair Confused

3boysandabump · 14/10/2018 21:36

I'm the same. Can't get wellies that fit either

Dontaskmeihaventaclue · 14/10/2018 21:45

It's so embarrassing, trying on boots in shops. I'm a size 4, not everyone with small feet has skinny legs. The rest of me is a 12/14. If I didn't feel fat before I definitely do now.

Have you tried Marks and Spencer?

AllyMcBeagle · 14/10/2018 21:47

Have you considered a Boot Band?

DaphneDiligaf · 14/10/2018 21:49

J D Williams have a good range often with three width fittings too.

Maelstrop · 14/10/2018 21:52

Jileon for wellies. Evans or SimplyBe for different calf widths. If you’re a rider, Arian Grasmeres.

Karachii · 14/10/2018 21:52

Definitely Duo!! They're amazing.

PipeTheFuckDown · 14/10/2018 21:55

Doc Martens. For the first time in my life I have knee high boots that fit!

GeezAJammyPeece · 14/10/2018 21:55

@Angie169 SimplyBe will deliver to another address (friend, relative, neighbour, workplace...) alternatively, they use Hermes for their standard delivery, so you can choose click and collect and pick up from whichever local to you point best suits your shift times.

OldSpeclkledHen · 14/10/2018 21:56

@Maelstrop I loved my Grassmeres so much (when they were new and shiney) I wore them to work with a skirt 😳

LizzieBennettDarcy · 14/10/2018 21:56

I'm going against the grain here but Duo Boots are really appalling quality for the money. The soles have fallen to bits within months on both pairs I've had from there despite them being nearly £200 a pair.

I've got some from Clarks wide fit OP and they're great. They're knee high black leather and with an elasticated back.

Lymphy · 14/10/2018 22:08

Yes! My calves are too big, I long for some knee highs but no luck, I've tried the wider calf boots but they seem to all come in extra wide around the foot, I'm a size six with slim feet and big legs, I'd love a pair

funnylittlefloozie · 14/10/2018 22:14

I wouldnt bother with Duo. I have some gorgeous boots from.them but the quality is poor in comparison to the cost, plus i find they are a frankly weird shape (or my legs are!).

I have very fat calves, SimplyBe has given me a new lease of life when it comes to boots! I am sure they will deliver to one of those parcel collection points.

PurpleFlower1983 · 14/10/2018 22:15

Clarks wife fitting. They’re about £100-140 a pair but worth it.

PurpleFlower1983 · 14/10/2018 22:16

Wide not wife!

Dontaskmeihaventaclue · 14/10/2018 22:19

Definitely going to take a look at all your suggestions. Thank you all

I have lympheodema so buying shoes to fit is bad enough let alone boots.

Try hotter or Clarks. They usually have a wide fitting.

Also if they are proper leather get some boot stretchers and then with a hair dryer heat up the leather before putting the stretcher in. Keep doing this and you will make the leather supple

yorkshireyummymummy · 14/10/2018 22:25

I’m struggling to get boots to fit DD!
The calves are fine, she’s not overweight like me but she’s a size 7 /7 and a half and I struggle to get anything appropriate for her age that fits well and isn’t going to cost me a fortune because she won’t get her wear out Of Them!
Bloody big footed kids < grumble grumble. Misses point of thread but fancies a winge>

llangennith · 14/10/2018 22:28

Evans do wide leg fittings and their boots are nice.

Deliqueen · 14/10/2018 23:12

Definitely recommend Simply Be. You can order by foot width and calf width. My last pair lasted 2 years, just had this year's delivered this week and LOVE them. Decent prices too. You can get them delivered to a local pick up point(ours is Co-op so can do an evening pick up).

Maelstrop · 14/10/2018 23:31

@OldSpeclkledHen me too! Lovely tweedy short skirt and boots then I'd ride like that straight from work, was fun flat out round the school! Shock

SisyphusHadItEasy · 15/10/2018 01:13

I can get dress boots, as there are several shops near me that sell them with wider calves, but I have found it impossible to get wellies that fit my calves. I wear short ones (just above the ankle), but would much rather have wellies that go quite a bit further up my calves.

My steel toes - which I admit are close to the most comfortable footwear I own which is good because I spend a LOT of time in them - are just above my ankles, but I do have work boots that are a bit taller.

I just want decent wellies!
