Festive breaks in hotels

My daughter is going away with her Dad for Christmas to the States.

This makes me a bit sad so my dh has suggested we go to a hotel and do one of the three day festive breaks.

Has anyone ever done one?

My parents think I should stay and go to theres but I don't want to stay here.

So really AIBU to go on a festive break and what are they really like?

No UANBU. We have no family coming to us this Christmas (and haven't been invited anywhere) so we are going to Butlins! If we could afford it we probably would have gone somewhere a bit posher but Butlins do Christmas very well. I don't think it's much fun with just us at home 😞
