Kray twins

My neighbours have just had new baby, 2year old called Reggie, new baby to be called Ronnie, AIBU to think it's awful to give them names associated with gangsters, both names lovely on their own

OP posts:
Mrskeats · 14/10/2018 19:03

Oh dear
May they possibly not heard of them?

Thehop · 14/10/2018 19:03

Lovely on their own but yes, a bit cruel to give them that association.

Though I’ve used both for my boys just between hubby and I 😂

IStandWithPosie · 14/10/2018 19:04

Yep, they’re idiots. I’ve heard of a few people doing this. I blame the Tom Hardy remake a few years ago.

picklemepopcorn · 14/10/2018 19:04

Have you mentioned the Kray twins?

LeaM · 14/10/2018 19:05

Oh no 🙈 awful!

PippilottaLongstocking · 14/10/2018 19:05

Reggie and Ronnie are awful names separately let alone together! And then even without the association they are too matchy matchy and not in a good way...

ConciseandNice · 14/10/2018 19:06

Oh dear. I’d say something to them.

GreenDinosaur · 14/10/2018 19:07

Some people look up to the whole East End gangster thing, apparently it's ok to murder and torture others and extort money because "they loved their mum" Hmm

AllHallowsQueen · 14/10/2018 19:08

Grin That’s hilarious

Tahani · 14/10/2018 19:08

What another lot? Sure we had this thread not so long ago?

ZanyMobster · 14/10/2018 19:08

Has no one said anything? They may not have heard of them if they are under 30, and if they have maybe they don't actually know their names.

Sometimes people just don't realise, our neighbours kids are Sam and Ella, it makes me cringe, I always say Ella and Sam.

busybarbara · 14/10/2018 19:13

What's the problem? It was over fifty years ago! I bet they know and think it's funny. It's hardly Fred and Rose is it. I once knew a Mrs Hyde who had a daughter called Jacqueline..

OrangeOrBlackcurrant · 14/10/2018 19:16

3 yr old twins near me called Ronnie and Reggie. Clearly popular names at the moment!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/10/2018 19:25

Oh I think even those Living under a rock will know who the Krays are.

IStandWithPosie · 14/10/2018 19:31

I bet they know and think it's funny

Yes like I said, idiots.

ZanyMobster · 14/10/2018 19:46

Aww - agreed, my DSs age 12 and 10 do but they don't know their first names. I am clearly being too kind Grin

topsyanddim · 14/10/2018 19:51

Exact same thread posted about a month ago. Sure is a lot of this about

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 14/10/2018 19:52

Who are the Kray twins?

theWarOnPeace · 14/10/2018 20:00

We know a local mum that named her twin boys Ronnie and Reggie. She knows. She definitely knows. Sort of an old school friend, that I still see in passing, she actually seems really quite kind and nice, but also weirdly idolises violent gangsters. Speaking to a close friend recently, I said that I saw this person from school pretty regularly and that she was always warm and friendly. My friend’s response: “yeah she may well be, but look what she called her kids”. I have to agree, I like her well enough, but the judgement is there. Definitely judging.

littlegecko · 14/10/2018 20:02

I know of twins named Reggie and Ronnie. I think their parents loved the association, and did it on purpose.

StylishMummy · 14/10/2018 20:02

Are they the biggest chavs going?

Sparklesocks · 14/10/2018 20:09

Oof - yes tricky association to move away from! Maybe less so for younger generations

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 14/10/2018 20:12

Did they plan to have a second son for this to work?
