We have a local supermarket won’t mention names.
We shop their regularly and the security guard is often a little over friendly, always asks questions etc
Anyway the other day I was walking home with young daughter, and he was at the bus stop he said oh you live he then ( the door next to it ) next time you come in it’s for lunch !
Anyway fast forward to this evening I went over with daughter and the alarms went off ( tag left on toy )
I laughed as it’s always me shoes receipt blah blah as I went to put you back in back he smacked my bum, I alwardlt tried to ignore it and then he said to me you need more children.
Anyway
I got in the lift to leave and then changed my mind and went back upstairs to discuss with manager.
My friend seems to think I have over reacted.

Absolutely not an overreaction. The smack and the child comment were harassment. If you hadn’t complained he would have escalated the behaviour.

I wouldn’t worry too much about him knowing where you live. Now he knows he can no longer intimidate you he will move on to another, less assertive, victim.

Hmm that's assault so you didn't over react. In fact I don't think you reacted enough! I would have gone mental!

WellThisIsShit · 14/10/2018 09:58

Well he sounds skin creeping vile, and you did very well to complain!

Not AIBU, in fact you've handled it perfectly. Twonks like him depend on women being intimidated, having kids with them, creating situations where 'over-friendliness' crosses over into arsehole behaviour just enough to make a reasonable human doubt themselves or feel they would be believed.

He's a dick and you've done the right thing by going to his manager. Hopefully trey handle it right

Thankyou
Does anyone know if I can request to see CCTV ?

You can request a copy of the CCTV, they can make a small charge.

Iaimtomisbehave1 · 14/10/2018 13:08

@Alwaysbekind2014

You are legally entitled to a copy of any CCTV which has your image on it. They need to be able to blur out bystanders but it is your legal right to have it.

No you didn't over react he sounds creepy and very unpleasant.
From the manager's reaction it sounds as if he has form, I personally think he should be sacked, but if he gets a strong warning maybe he will steer clear of you and you and your DD will be able to go to t he supermarket without worrying he's hanging around. Did the manager say she would update you on what is happening ?

Sad that on a thread where a woman reports she has been sexually assaulted the second reaction on the thread is one of disbelief Sad
That's pretty much the reason women don't report sexual assault.

A lot of security staff at supermarkets are not directly em-loved by the supermarkets but provided by contractors. Hopefully that is the case here and the contractors will be asked to send someone else instead.
