Remote control battle

Urgh DH permanently has the remote control, I don't get a look in! It's never stuff I want to watch either so I end up using the IPad or doing something else. He likes none of the programs I like and vice versa. Anyone else in the same boat and get p*ssed off with it?

It was only when I left my ex I realised I hadn’t watched anything I’d actually chosen (while he was in the house) in about a decade. DH had the same issue with his ex and as a result we both fight over not having the remote as neither of us wants to decide what we’re watching. Funny how things stick with a person.

I don’t know why I put up with it with my ex. Just too much hassle to fight about it. But you don’t have to go along with him dominating the tv. If you can’t pick anything you both like you’ll have to take turns and he has no right to take over your shared living space. What happens when you tell him he can watch one thing and then you’ll watch what you want next? Is he usually a reasonable person?

He normally moans gives me the remote then spends the rest of the time complaining about what I've picked - it's not worth the hassle I've found Sad

He moans and makes it so uncomfortable for you because he knows that you'll eventually give in and let him take over. Don't give in. Point out that it's your home too and that you don't whinge and complain when he has his turn and that it's rude if him to do it to you. You don't need to make it into an argument, just totally tune him out and watch or at least pretend to watch your programmes - more than one at a time - until they're finished. Do that every night.

not a chance here,im in charge downstairs tbh

we also have 3 other large smart tvs in bedrooms with amazon and now tv sticks loaded with netflix, disney app etc each so there is plenty of options to watch your own shows
