Amazon removing valid bad feedback. One big con

I am so disgusted with Amazon
I bought a book from a company called JB World who sent me an email saying that the book wouldn't be delivered for 3 months. I left bad feedback only for it to be removed

I've just done a search and have come across a massive thread

sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/forums/t/seller-jb-world-getting-away-with-about-7-feedbacks-per-day-removed/166467/1145

Where this has been going on for months.

I only bought from this firm because of their great feedback but it seems all to be one big giant con

This company has over 200,000 books on Amazon. Most negative feedback are being removed daily and it seems many more companies are getting their feedback removed to.

Amazon are allowing this to happen. Happily making money from the selling fees and allowing their customers to be conned by their feedback system.

Buyer beware

Thanks Egggy, I buy 2nd hand books a lot from Amazon, so this is really helpful. Caveat Emptor indeed... Makes me v cross this sort of thing!

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 13/10/2018 13:40

Have you complained to Amazon or just here?

longwayoff · 13/10/2018 13:48

Thanks for letting us know. I buy a lot of books from Amazon so JB World is now off the list.

I had an item ordered that was not me, it was in my hidden orders but my phone app notified me of delivery. Just earphones for about £25. Anyway I cancelled order and refused delivery on the sellers site there were multiple people reviewing to say the same thing. Amazon made out it was me revealing my password or email. It was obviously this company they were the only ones who would benefit, the items were sent to me. I guess the we’re hoping the odd few people don’t notice a cheap set of headphones. I went round in circles with amazon to get a refund as the status was only request cancellation. The negative feedback from this company was also removed. I finally got my money back after tweeting them, I guess it’s a bit of bad feedback they didn’t want.

I cancelled my account and not used them since. I had prime too and used amazon a lot!

They enable and allow people to be ripped off as well as the appalling way they treat staff, and oh yes the tax dodging.

I left a three star review and got bombarded by emails from the company trying to guilt me into upping the rating. Then when that failed they offered me a 50% refund. Then 100%! It simply made them worse in my eyes

Yeeek · 13/10/2018 14:05

Thanks op.
Just had a look and I see JBworld have changed their name to IN&OUT BOOKS

I read a while back that big companies are paying Amazon staff to remove bad reviews, but it looks like it's feedback manipulation too and very wide spread

Amazon are already being investigated by the EU for anti trust issues, www.inc.com/guadalupe-gonzalez/amazon-margrethe-vestager-preliminary-investigation.html

I don't think it's will be long before this monolith starts to fall

Bluelady · 13/10/2018 14:07

Complain to Amazon. I complained about my order of a mattress for which the delivery date kept being pushed back. They refunded me instantly and added £20 compensation on top.

Stripybeachbag · 13/10/2018 14:12

Slightly different but I ended my Amazon prime subscription. They carried on taking money out of bank account for 9 months. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

Stripybeachbag · 13/10/2018 14:14

Have you complained to Amazon or just here?

Complaining to Amazon won't do anything. Negative publicity on the internet is much more effective. Which is why Amazon are removing bad reviews! They understand it.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 13/10/2018 14:31

Tbh Amazon doesn't give a shit about bad publicity. Look at what's written about them every day and they are still going strong.

If you complain to Amazon then one of their lovely agents will be happy to help.

Egggywegggy · 13/10/2018 15:13

I had my money back eventually
But it will certainly make me think twice on purchasing something again from them. As it's manipulated fakery

It's surprising how good their customer service people are, I wasn't expecting that.

TickTickBoomBoom · 13/10/2018 16:43

Has anybody else been denied the ability to leave reviews? I keep getting the: 'You can't have a personal connection to the seller' rubbish. I've e-mailed them twice over the past almost a year, they say they'll look into it but I hear nothing back. Apparently this is now quite wide-spread that people are unable to leave reviews, and once you've been 'blocked' there's no chance of them ever allowing you to review again.
