what is it with people having to be constantly Slurping!

the world cannot cope with all the rubbish this causes.

The mention was to use bit of a hot water from the coffee machine. Who would demand to use pot washer for one cup😂 Actually... I am sure there is a person like that out there.

specialsubject · 14/10/2018 13:30

Perhaps I am risking a horrible death but I reuse a mug at home for tea or coffee without washing it every time. Although it isn't a pork-up takeaway with loads of sugar so perhaps there is less germ food.

I also refill my water bottle at a tap without rinsing it every time. Must have.missed another memo.

I have no kids and will be long dead.when global warming gets really bad. I try to do my little bit,.surprised so many give zero stuffs.

Everyoneiswingingit · 14/10/2018 13:34

They have that press down hot water machine, literally takes 3 seconds.
This is what you said. They call it a pot wash in DD's shop.

LittleBookofCalm · 14/10/2018 13:35

I am surprised too special

Everyoneiswingingit · 14/10/2018 13:39

Laughing at the idea.that molly coddle never has two mins to spare to rinse out a coffee cup in a country where every public toilet has a sink, and is.clearly going from London office to London office which will all have kitchens. And free coffee...

I’ve worked in London offices for the last 15 years. None has had free coffee. I clearly need better offices....

CoughLaughFart · 14/10/2018 13:41

If I was paying £4 for a coffee in an establishment that is supposed to be encouraging reusable cups, damn right I’d want it rinsed.

OftenHangry · 14/10/2018 13:42

If you use milk in your tea or coffee and then carry it around for hours in various temperatures it can get quite yucky... Really not about being "busy". Everyone has a different hygiene standards.

Misstrixy · 14/10/2018 13:44

Try being a teacher they drink constantly, then moan they are desperate when you refuse them to go to the loo.

anniegranny · 14/10/2018 13:46

I have to join in and say that when I was young it was considered the height of bad manners to eat or drink in public, but times change and everyone seems so busy they don't have time to stop and sit down . Disgusted by people who leave their coffee cups everywhere even in nature reserves 😡
I do carry a flask with me everywhere I go now, primarily to take tablets, but I'm never without it in the heat.

superchick7 · 14/10/2018 13:48

I'm amazed that people are willing to spend £4 for a coffee more than once in a day, which I presume they do if they need their cup washing by someone else. If it's twice a day that could be £40 a week! World's gone mad.

LividAtDolphins · 14/10/2018 13:49

You really do! I worked at 4 different companies over 10 years and all had free tea and coffee.

Would have been a deal breaker for me if they didn't, tbh! Grin

I'm not talking about a pot wash. Use your common sense, why would anyone ask a barista to put their re-usable cup in a dishwasher? to give it a quick rinse.

I'm talking about the press and hold tap that squirts hot water into an upside mug. I don't know the proper name for it, ask your daughter :)

superchick7 · 14/10/2018 13:52

I have a kettle at home, dead posh me. Kettle at work too. I drink green tea and take my own tea bags, use my own travel mug and wash it up all by myself. Can I have a gold star please?

Everyoneiswingingit · 14/10/2018 13:57

Let the pot wash/hot tap go, it was said in response to what I thought you meant. Explained that already, hardly the main point of the discussion.

OftenHangry · 14/10/2018 13:58

@Antigon and I was talking about the simple water button on coffee machine🤣 I thought you did too.

Each of us is talking about a different thing. 😂

Yerroblemom1923 · 14/10/2018 13:59

CurlyhairedAssassin has hit the nail on the head! Its the "I'm so busy wannabes " and it is also a trend. If they're not being oh so busy they have to have a coffee in hand at all times , it's look at me I'm oh so healthy with my bottle of water! Glad someone else gets it.

AlexanderHamilton · 14/10/2018 14:03

Do you mean a Zip Hydroboil water heater?

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 14/10/2018 14:12

I love the occasional Costa, I also always use disposable cups as am yet to find a reusable one that doesn't have that thermos taste after a couple uses - I have a nice collection growing 🙄. I also use bottled water as what comes out the tap tastes disgusting 🤷🏻‍♀️

CurlyhairedAssassin · 14/10/2018 14:15

Maybe it’s like a habit thing, having to carry something in your hand, to replace the mobile phone thst’s In your pocket or bag when out and about? I seriously worry about my teenage sons who can’t seem to sit and watch a TV program without fecking FIDDLING with something in their hand CONSTANTLY. Flicking something, twiddling a cable, picking a label off something. It’s like they’ve got used to having a screen in their hand at all times and don’t know what an empty hand feels like.

I take a reusable metal bottle of water with me to work so it’s always in my bag when I am travelling to and from my workplace. I have no desire to carry it in my hand anywhere as I’m not an octopus and need my hands for other things. Like driving. And will not die of thirst on my journey ifnive had water just before I left work so no need to put it in the cup holder in my car.

Someone said they liked a a takeaway coffee while browsing in shops. How does that work? Do you not pick items up to look at them closer? Feel the texture of clothes?

Anyway, point being, this “trend” is because coffee cups have become the hand equivalent of dummies, I reckon.

OftenHangry · 14/10/2018 14:21

@AlexanderHamilton
Do you mean a Zip Hydroboil water heater?
Was that for me? I am not sure😂

MagicMojito · 14/10/2018 14:22

I have no problem with people drinking/sipping/slurping throughout the day i know, I'm too kind Grin ,but something drastic HAS to happen in regards to the impact on the environment.

I do think that plastic cups/bottles need to have a significant added tax to them at the point of sale. I think that reusable cups and bottles should be easier and cheaper to purchase (you can get a perfectly functional but simple one from Starbucks for just £1) but if you havnt got one near you your looking at £4 or £5 quid which may put a lot of people off buying one. There should be more free CLEAN water fountains around for refilling reusables.

I can't say that people drinking when they are thirsty is something I can put much anger/thought into nth, Just do it responsibly Smile

babbscrabbs · 14/10/2018 14:22

I carry reusable bottle and cup with me.

I take the cup full of coffee on my walk to work as generally don't have time to drink it before I go as busy getting the kids ready. If I need more caffeine they'll happily rinse it out for me.

I do get annoyed by people buying bottles of water. Utter waste of plastic not to mention money. Just take a reusable bottle or ask for a glass of water in a cafe. Most places have glasses and jugs where you can help yourself these days. How people are still doing it regularly without feeling guilty I don't know.

Antigon · 14/10/2018 14:27

There's a water button too? Grin So many ways to get your re-usable mug rinsed that don't require traipsing to a public loo Grin
