Mine was a trip to Belgium. I had a sickness bug the whole time and missed everything!

Poetry live.

I say that as the teacher. Carol
Anne Duffy writes such amazing poetry and somehow makes them dull when she reads them aloud 😳

Was about 13/14 and went off to a stately home. A part of the gardens had a large play area ( probably suitable for up to 10/11 year olds) but not to be put off quite a few of us went on it. We were allowed a non uniform day and I had a t shirt and jeans on. Copied a few others that were hanging upside down on a piece of apparatus. My t shirt fell over my head and my boobs popped out of my bra whilst I was stuck upside down !

PositiveVibez · 12/10/2018 18:39

Omg gladiatorgirl - wonder if we were on the same trip 🤣

Skisunsnow · 12/10/2018 18:42

We did a trip to the sewage works in a level physics/maths 🤔🙄😱

maddiemookins16mum · 12/10/2018 18:43

Day trip to Boulogne, it was terrible, horrendous weather, a whole class of 12 year olds (plus teachers) puking up everywhere on a cross channel ferry both ways. The weather was even on the news that night, we got back 4 hours late to lots of pale faced, worried parents. This was circa 1976 so no mobiles etc. I remember going into a shop, buying a Mars Bar and shyly saying ‘merci’.
Total waste of time 🤢🤢

fieryginger · 12/10/2018 18:43

One to an old settlement in Coventry.... I had my first period on the day 😞

drspouse · 12/10/2018 18:45

Skiing trip to Italy.
I had such a bad sore throat I couldn't even swallow saliva. The PE teacher, who was in charge, thought I was making it up. The "hotel" had bunk beds, 6 kids to a room I think, and graffiti on the walls.
On the days I could actually ski it was -40 and I was happy and warm in about 3 or 4 layers. Same teacher told me off because I wasn't wearing a single layer of salopettes like the others.

PumpkinPie2016 · 12/10/2018 18:45

A trip to see Macbeth - it was arguably the most boring thing I have ever watched in my life. Studying the book was equally boring!

I literally nearly fell asleep in the theatre!

I still can't stand shakespear! Thankfully, I read Physics at university so didn't have to do it beyond school!

tobee · 12/10/2018 18:51

Oh I love Iolanthe! Grin

We were always going to the South of England Show at Ardingly. The first time I went I thought we'd be seeing loads of farm animals and things but actually it was just a commercial thing for farmers. It was just constant stalls with people handing out leaflets about animal feed, vaccines and silage etc. And the weather was usually terrible. 💤

Invisimamma · 12/10/2018 18:53

We went to Tesco 😂 it was actually pretty cool and they took us round the bakery etc. But it was a bit crap when the other class in our year went to a theme park.

Haggischucker · 12/10/2018 18:56

Yousignup - we could have went to the same school but in my time the parents would not have been called!!

I didn’t have a worst to be fair - I even enjoyed brass rubbing at Bannockburn me Smile

formerbabe · 12/10/2018 18:57

Camping...just awful...was freezing cold and miserable. I kept thinking why would you choose to do this when you have a house to live in?!

Notgotajarofglue · 12/10/2018 18:57

This has to call for a look on YouTube for the most racist field trip ever Grin

FuckKnuckle · 12/10/2018 19:00

Mine was a field trip to Aberystwyth. I went out with some friends for a curry the night before and for the first time ever I got curry poisoning while we were on the bus. I had to get them to stop in a layby and go and pollute a pine forest after sitting next to a student I fancied and farting miserably for miles, hoping it would go off. I didn't get to join in activities for a further two days - I was trapped in my room.

phlebasconsidered · 12/10/2018 19:00

A day out in a forest learning forest "survival" skills with my class. Several kids had gone for a "free wee" against a tree already so i didn't think anything of it when said child asked to go to the toilet. It was only when they came back and asked if I had any loo roll that I realised they had done a massive poo. Luckily I had lots of nappy and dog poo bags in my pocket but that really wasn't my idea of fun.

The child was in year 4. It was'nt small.

Beamur · 12/10/2018 19:04

Flatford Mill, some kind of field trip. Very dull, awful weather, couple of other schools there too, lots of hormonal rampant teenagers copping off with each other. No one fancied me Grin

NotTheMrMenAgain · 12/10/2018 19:12

Went to a safari park on a coach - spent ages going very slowly around the animal enclosures but because the coach was so high we couldn't see the animals at ground level.

possumgoddess · 12/10/2018 19:19

My school trips were mostly ok, but I did manage to lose all the contents of my bag over the side of a boat on the Thames. I didn't get much pocket money so it was a big deal for me 😦

AamdC · 12/10/2018 19:20

Helmshore Textile museum which was admittedly a History trip for GCSE History but so boring .

Elementtree · 12/10/2018 19:23

Hartlepool Power Station Grin I think we were about 8.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 12/10/2018 19:23

A day trip in juniors which involved a National Trust place in the morning and a visit to a new Maritime museum in the afternoon. We got to the Maritime Museum to find it hadn’t even opened for business yet (WHY hadn’t the teachers checked this when planning the trip?!) so the coach driver took us to the local airport to watch the planes. Fine when you’re 2 or 3, it becomes a bit dull after 10 mins when you’re 10!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 12/10/2018 19:23

Just realised that we never got a refund on the Maritime Museum, the cheek!

TidyDancer · 12/10/2018 19:24

Not a school trip but a Guides trip to Scotland. Fucking awful. Forced to eat obscene amounts of food until we cried, put in dangerous situations up mountains, paedo perve running trips on speedboats and just to make it even more special, got a delightful surprise period while halfway up aforementioned mountain.

Fucking hated every minute of it.

curlykaren · 12/10/2018 19:24

12/13 in high school in South Wales we went on a day trip to an ice rink in Bristol. While we were there there was a huge snow storm and the Brecon Beacons were a complete white out. The coach crawled back along the mountain roads while the kids were crying and screaming with fear. We all knew the road was along sheer hillside but the terrain was utterly featureless under the snow. It was fucking terrifying!

yousignup · 12/10/2018 19:27

@Haggischucker We were all Geordies, and from your username, you probably aren't... are you from the Cairngorms though???
