Mine was a trip to Belgium. I had a sickness bug the whole time and missed everything!

Oooh and also the time I went by train to see a cathedral. I was 6 and really new to the school and area. When we came back, the train guard blew the whistle as we were still getting off (old slam door trains) and the helper we were with slammed the door on me before it started heading to Amberley (i.e. middle of nowhere). I ended up finding the guard and cried my eyes out because being 6 and lost is no fun, plus even if I could open the door I was too small to get off. He ended up dumping me at the tiny station (thankfully manned in those days) and one of the other parents drove to pick me up. It was hands down the scariest thing that ever happened to me as a child.

My friend sent her mum a postcard with a scenic view of a flowers in a field from her school trip.

On the back it said HELP ME HELP ME PLEASE MUM ITS RAINING AND I HATE THE FOOD AND MY BED AND THE TEACHERS AND MY FRIENDS AND THE TRIP AND THE WHOLE WORLD.
LOVE YOU MUM.

That post card sounds a bit like the letters my cousin wrote to my mum (his DAunt) when he was in the RAF and hating deployment.

His one from the Falklands (not during the war) basically said "It's wet, there's too many sheep, I hate it, the SAS turned up & bullied us, I miss home and hate it here so much, love DNeph". He only wrote when he was miserable!

Friend is currently away with the navy & his letters basically say "It's boring, I've run out of sweets & the guy I'm sharing with snores". Twas ever thus! Grin

Mine was a trip to Winchester cathedral. Ages in a coach, the driver got lost and we ended up needing to have our lunch under trees as it was such miserable weather that it was the only place open and available.

Don'tharsh - gotta love an honest postcard! 😂 Wonder if her mum laughed or panicked!

School trip to a flooded aparis aged 12 with teachers who bullied me. My old au pair came to rescue me for one evening.

Took kids to Paris as a teacher, let someone else count them back on the coach, realised halfway to Sacre Coeur one was missing. I ran across Paris and found him at the merting point at the Eiffel Tower. Poor little sweetheart!

Trip to Spain, child broke his nose doing an activity with the tour operator. Another trip, child broke her leg going down a water slide. Poor love had to travel back on the coach, almost 24 hours.

Her mum didn’t care. My friend was quite an annoying kid so her mum just left her there as she needed a few days peace and quiet Grin

Theatre trip to Stratford upon Avon to see Kenneth Branagh play Hamlet. In our pre-performance free time most of the boys in our group got pissed on cider (what else?) and proceeded to vomit noisily in the stalls during Ken's soliloquy. So embarrassing.
