Am I being unreasonable?

yawning801 · 12/10/2018 07:09

YA(N)BU = you are (not) being unreasonable
AIBU = am I being unreasonable?
WIBU = was/would I be unreasonable?
MN = mumsnet Grin

yawning801 · 12/10/2018 07:11

pearl clutching = getting upset over nothing
tinkly laugh = a blithe sort of laugh that is evasive? don't know how to explain it
FOTTFSOF = fuck off to the far side of fuck (only ever seen this one once, it's more common in its long form)
OYF = off you fuck

See a pattern here? Grin

Pbm28 · 12/10/2018 07:15

Hahaha love it. So basically if there is something to long to type people are just shortening them?

Heuschrecke · 12/10/2018 07:18

Dear/darling child/ren

yikesanotherbooboo · 12/10/2018 07:23

IYSWIM if you see what I mean

OrdinaryGirl · 12/10/2018 07:28

Biscuit = biscuit, as in, 'This takes the biscuit'
Generally used on its own to express shock and disapproval at the post.
Took me ages to realise this one back in the day!

ohello · 12/10/2018 08:02

I thought it was a butt hole! Grin

BarbaraofSevillle · 12/10/2018 08:05

I thought biscuit was 'no comment' following on from Gordon Brown's refusal to name his favourite biscuit when on a MN webchat?

Some MN language is the same as internet chat in general but, probably like all sites, it has it's own particular 'in' words/phrasing, like naice or the biscuit.

LMGTFY is one that needs to be used a lot more on here Wink.

Eponymous · 12/10/2018 08:07

RTFT = read the fucking thread.

ShockedHorrored · 12/10/2018 08:10

What’s LMGTFY?

Heuschrecke · 12/10/2018 08:12

I just Googled it to find out it means Let Me Google That For You Grin

ProfessorMoody · 12/10/2018 08:16

CF - cheeky fucker
GF - goady fucker

Magicpaintbrush · 12/10/2018 08:18

When you see how many mumsnet-isms there actually are it's almost like an actual mumsnettian language has developed over time. Grin
