To not share winnings with friend?

flouiserain · 11/10/2018 14:37

Me and my friend went to the casino last night for a meal.
Every time I go I always give myself £20 to play on the slots.
My friend never puts money in herself but I always share, she says she doesn't have anything to put in (min stake is 50p ) but I always half winnings.
Once I won £750 and have her half.
Last night I put in the £20 and on my last spin won £40.
She proceeded to say I might as well withdraw the £40 and go halfys as it's better than loosing.
I said I wanted to play with the £40 as I would be back to where I started at £20.
She kicked off saying she could really use that £20 and I wouldn't win anyway.
Wibu here?

She's not your friend. If she cared about you she wouldn't let you pay for everything each time. Surely you've seen people with "normal" friendships out, when you have the "I'll pay", "no you paid last time I'll get this" obligatory routine that goes on for at least ten minutes??

Angrybird345 · 11/10/2018 19:29

She’s a cf

ZenNudist · 11/10/2018 19:37

Oh you poor love. I hate seeing people taken advantage of. This isn't friendship. Friends do things for each other. One sided friendships are always a sign something is wrong.

I have a friend who is take take take and does nothing for me. I put up with them because i enjoy their company and have known them a long time. They've never got shirty with me and I'd walk away if they did.

donquixotedelamancha · 11/10/2018 19:46

@flouiserain Please can I come to the Casino with you?

Or we could just save time by you giving me money? I'll be more appreciative than your 'friend' :-)

flouiserain · 11/10/2018 19:53

It's just something to look forward too I guess.
A nice night out, tea, drinks and a bit of company.
This is the tip of the iceberg with our friendship as I do other things too (but not relevant )
I do enjoy her company and we get on well etc.

If you told her that she would have to pay her own way and you would no longer split YOUR winnings with her would she still want to spend time with you?

user1457017537 · 11/10/2018 20:01

I think it is quite normal for friends who go bingo to share any winnings. I think it is unusual to share casino wins, I would treat the friend say £50 out of the £750 win, after all it was you who was gambling. Asking for £20 when you had won nothing yourself is greedy and grabby. She sounds jealous as well. Tell her you have your own bills to pay!

flouiserain · 11/10/2018 20:11

I would hope she did,I think I'm good company and fun.

This is so ridiculous I hesitated to reply in case it's just another wind-up, but surely you can see that you're actually buying her company rather than her happily giving it as a true friend would?

And given her attitude so far do you honestly think you'll "get on well" if you outright refuse her?

What happened in your life to get you to the point where you allow yourself to be treated this way, and can any of us help to support you with it? There are some very wise posters on MN, most of them much better than me, and I'm sure you'll get the help you clearly need if you want to share

CottonTailRabbit · 11/10/2018 20:21

Are you scared of saying no to her? Especially if you have ever said yes previously?

HollowTalk · 11/10/2018 20:24

I can understand if you were both putting money on - the same amount - that if one won they might treat the other to drinks. Given you're spending £20 I'd say the equivalent each on drinks out would be fine. But you won £750!!! I can see why you'd say "I'll treat us to our drinks tonight" out of that, but to give her half?

And then she got more than you, because you put the stake down. Do you realise that?

Belindabauer · 11/10/2018 20:25

No don't share.
I
I share at bingo with my mum but we both out exactly the same amount in and have an arrangement to share any winnings.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/10/2018 20:27

Right on the ball as usual I see ... this is why I asked if anyone can help OP

indianwoman · 11/10/2018 20:36

How is it she is never offered and you have never asked for her to pay her share?? How did this happen?

Snog · 11/10/2018 20:47

What happens to the two cinema vouchers that you paid for in the meal deal OP?

Snog · 11/10/2018 20:49

What is your rational for funding your friend's meal every week? Do you have much more money than she does?

flouiserain · 11/10/2018 21:40

We normally use them the same week.
I honestly don't know how we got into this habit.

OP posts:
Snog · 11/10/2018 21:42

So you also pay for the two of you to go to the cinema every week too?

NoSquirrels · 11/10/2018 21:50

You’re a nice friend and a bit of a mug. Just knock it on the head now before you get really upset by it.

Suggest doing something different (& cheap/free). Take her to the casino as a proper treat - her birthday, or whatever.

I hope she’s not as much of an arsehole as she sounds based on this! Flowers

Maelstrop · 11/10/2018 21:57

She’s taking the piss something chronic. Why do you give her anything? Are you rich?

FlowThroughIt · 11/10/2018 22:00

I vote cheeky entitled fucked.

FlowThroughIt · 11/10/2018 22:01

*fucker

sonjadog · 11/10/2018 22:02

I can't believe you gave her 375 pounds.

busybarbara · 11/10/2018 22:21

She does sound a bit of a CF. Does she drive you both there or something like that? If so then I could see her point at a push.

BMW6 · 11/10/2018 23:33

Nah, I now call clippy cloppy feet. Too ridiculous.

You explained earlier how this started, now say you dont know how this started.

Plus no-one with more than one brain cell is this fucking stupid.

I'm out.
