To think you can't always follow your heart career wise if there are bills to pay?

I adore art. I am moderately good but not amazing. My friend makes a small living as an artist and she is far more talented than me and works super hard.
I couldn't be an artist as I would probably not enjoy the pressure to produce work to pay bills.
Aibu to envy those who make a living out of being creative such as artists, animators, musicians, interior designers, sculptors etc.
I used to adore pottery but I couldn't survive off it.
I have chosen a new career path which I love in a different way. It is very practice and not at all creative.

I would like to add that I am following my heart with regards to my scientific career but I am hoping that I can find time to be creative.
I envy those who manage to make a living out of their creativity...it means that enough people admire your self expression.

I had a career in a scientific field, but wasn't loving it. I did love my hobby in an artistic field.
I started slowly, working around normal hours. Then, when I was earning enough to get us by, I took the business full time. Now I'm earning close to 6 figures. It's been 5 years of hard, exhausting, never-ending work but I love it. It's my just creative though... You've got to do everything. You need a business head. You can't be precious about your work; sometimes you need to make the right business decision and stop producing work you love if it doesn't sell and change your designs to be marketable. But at the end of the day, I'm doing what I love. It just isn't easy.

I agree.
I admire anyone who is creative and arty as I am the complete opposite.
Even more so f they are successful and can make a living from it.

I worked in biomedical scientist but now I'm a jewellery designer/maker.
