To not bond with bump

An acquaintance mentioned that I ought to rub my bump to bond with the baby. I've not had any instinct to do so and now I'm wondering if that's normal. I do occasionally rest a hand there to feel the movements. Did anyone rub their bump during pregnancy as a way of bonding with baby?

I definitely bonded with my bump (not by rubbing it though!), but when she was born, the bond didn't transfer. The baby in my arms was someone I'd only just met and I missed the baby who had been in my tummy - I couldn't reconcile that they were one and the same.

I bonded with my baby just fine, but the point is that having bonded with the bump didn't make a blind bit of difference to that.

I hate the term bump but moving on from that...

I rubbed my belly loads in private as a way of bonding as did my husband, but each to their own.
