AIBU to want to wear a watch?

I have an Apple Watch. I am slightly obsessed with hitting targets and recording my workouts.

Today in yoga the teacher said I shouldn’t wear my watch because it’s distracting me from focusing on breathing etc.

It’s a power yoga class and it’s very workout-y not zen twinkly. She has really loud music on in the class.

WIBU to keep wearing the watch (maybe hiding it under a sweatband? Or should I respect what she says? It’s the first time in over a year this teacher has mentioned it.

Anyone who told me to not wear my Apple Watch would get short bloody shrift. Back off, yoga lady!

It’s not like I’m looking at it all the time either. I checked it once because it felt like the class was late and it had over-run by 7 minutes!

Unless she's got a sign saying they're banned from her classes then do whatever you want! 😃

I think she's right and it's really sad people can't take two minutes away from their phone/watch/tech thing and just have a bit of time out. I think you'd be a massive loser to try and hide it from her you'd look like some kind of addict.

She’s being fucking ridiculous YANBU

I'd ignore. Any further mentions and I would find another class. I prefer to feel comfortable with my instructors and that would cause tension for me and ruin my experience - which kind of negates the point doing these classes (mine aren't meditation based either).

I wear my Apple Watch during Yoga, Body Balance and Pilates with no issues. I set it to time goal 50 minutes (45 min class) at set up and keep it on 'Theatre" and "silent" modes so it doesn't make a noise or light up.

I also use my watch in Aquaerobics and Bodypump - it works brilliantly in both these classes too.

I’m sure she meant it nicely and for your benefit

Sohardtochooseausername · 10/10/2018 06:46

MrTrebus I am addicted.

Northernparent yes and it’s not very zen to wear a watch - if it was the quiet kind of yoga I wouldn’t. But this class isn’t that.

Notnachoing the sign says no mobile phones. Which is totally fair enough.
