to think Gwyneth Paltrow is a nit wit?

lucydogz · 09/10/2018 17:33

albeit a very very rich nitwit?
Did anyone else catch her on Radio 4 this morning?
At one point the presentor asking her if she really thought that circassian (or some other guff) crystals could help with infertility issues. (In a tone of scarcely concealed incredulity)
GP then drones on about the miraculous ability of the human body to heal itself..blah blah
It was great radio (I'm not sure why GP was on in the first place) but, unfortunately, I don't think GP realised how ridiculous she sounded.

Dr Jen Gunter frequently investigates the science base of Gwynnie's lucrative batshittery. Not surprisingly, there isn't any.

Dr Jen is not a fan.

drjengunter.wordpress.com/2018/06/16/goop-is-gas-lighting-women/

She's also on Twitter.

redexpat · 09/10/2018 18:53

I had forgotten how much I like the phrase nit wit.

TomHardysNextWife · 09/10/2018 18:53

She's so out of touch with reality it's untrue, but what's really scary is the seemingly growing army of women who do actually listen to her goop and are making her business grow to the extent that it has. I felt a huge rage towards her when she did an interview once saying about the specific hunger she likes her children to have from not eating carbs. It's bad enough that years of crank dieting have given her osteopenia but to restrict a childs diet in the same way is heinous.

I hope the rumours about Dakota and Chris are true and that he's found a level of normality away from lala goopy.

noeffingidea · 09/10/2018 18:55

She's a grifter, best to ignore her.

Troels · 09/10/2018 18:56

Absolute Nit wit. Agreed.

longwayoff · 09/10/2018 18:56

Excellent description. Saw her on bbc1 this morning promoting her products. Even the interviewer appeared to share your opinion.

ImNotonLinkedInNo · 09/10/2018 18:58

Is there any possibility the crystals might do something? I've two kids btw, I'm not clinging to passing hope, I'm just wondering. Do we KNOW for a fact that there's nothing to it?

MandalaYogaTapestry · 09/10/2018 19:01

To be fair, if one struggles with infertility, then buying her product is along the same lines as going to some sacred well that cures everything or whatever other similar spiritual place. Yet women do do the latter and do believe in healing powers.

missyB1 · 09/10/2018 19:02

I seem to remember her being on Graham Norton show once a few years ago, she made some horrible comments about English kids birthday parties in “draughty church halls, eating rubbish food” And how her kids have amazing pool parties with professional entertainers blah blah.
Decided she was unbearable there and then.

flumpybear · 09/10/2018 19:03

The woman is just hilarious!
What made me laugh the most was when a previous chef is theirs found it so hard to cook under their unfathomable regimen that she started cooking with items on the 'GP banned list' apparent her cooking was amazingly tasty ... who knew 😉
Aaahhhh The naked truth eh! Let's hope her poor children got a few calories or treats from this chef Wink

ImNotonLinkedInNo · 09/10/2018 19:06

@missyb1, oh did she say that!? that is horrible!

DixieTrix · 09/10/2018 19:11

Emmm.. steam cleaning vag??!! How the bejesus do you do that ? More importantly, why ? It's self cleaning for gawds sake. The mind truly boggles

jay55 · 09/10/2018 19:14

The thread on here about her shop selling sex toy necklaces and stones to stick up your chuff was brilliant. So I forgive her nit wit nature for all the laughs she brings.

Bumbledop · 09/10/2018 19:14

Im going to start using mit wit again! Love it!

Stonebake · 09/10/2018 19:16

I heard it today and also thought it was a very weird choice of interview for radio 4. Did she pay them to do it? Slow week?

flumpybear · 09/10/2018 19:21

@missyB1 - she's a cock! .... perhaps, as she's probably teetotal, she's undertaking 'be-a-cock'tober'

Hmm
longwayoff · 09/10/2018 19:32

The gwynnie sex toy thread was hilarious, seek it out if you missed it.

FesteringCarbuncle · 09/10/2018 19:34

I couldn't get past the presenter calling a
Va j I na
A vadg ina

Does that make sense?

7salmonswimming · 09/10/2018 19:35

If she were short and/or brunette and/or possibly a bit overweight (and/or - gasp - black/brown skinned) she wouldn’t have one tenth the money or following she has. It’s unfathomable to me how people fall for her shite, just because she once looked like a Disney princess. When you look back at her movies, she’s always been mediocre, at best. She’s so smug and sanctimonious and overrated, makes me disproportionately mad.

Glad I got that off my chest Grin

TubbyTubster · 09/10/2018 19:39

YANBU. Lovely clean vaj though I hear.

bellinisurge · 09/10/2018 19:42

I heard this too. Her learning to actually not lie when selling stuff has apparently been a learning point. Silly cow.

PreventCrookedTeeth · 09/10/2018 19:42

@ImNotonLinkedInNo If there was any clinical evidence to support the idea I am sure that mainstream clinics would know about it.

Quartz is just a silicon-based rock. Rose quartz is quartz with certain impurities in it that make it a bit pink. Oils and emulsions can be absorbed by the skin, rocks can't. I can see no mechanism by which a bit of quartz could possible impart health benefits through skin contact. Even intimate skin contact!

BeenThereDone · 09/10/2018 20:13

Dim, boring, rich and more than likely bored to fucking death because that is the only way someone would be into this faddy nonsense.
Crystals up your foof , seriously?!??
I'd heard of her stuff before and I looked it up just other day and the prices are ridiculous... Only someone with more money than sense would buy this crap..

OVienna · 09/10/2018 20:18

She knows it's all a hoax: "I can monetise eyeballs."

It's worse than daft, she's a snake oil selling con.

BoogleMcGroogle · 09/10/2018 20:22

She is s total nitwit and sounded daft. My nine year old was listening and even she thought vaginal quartz stones was ‘ not a good idea’.

On the other hand, John Humphrys on K Pop was awesome 😂
