Impending doom

Brexit, global warming, austerity, nhs cuts, school cuts, plastic in the oceans, insect populations dying out, the Tory party, trump, racism, the rise of right wing politics, Brexit again. I feel like I am drowning, that the world is fucked and there is nothing to look forward to. AIBU to have an overwhelming sense of impending doom.

YABU. The world is safer than it has ever been. The standard of living for human beings is the best it’s ever been. Fewer people are living in poverty than ever.

Life is shit for millions of people. Billions possibly. But it’s still a better more safe world than ever before. So YABU!

Having a bit of an eye roll. Don't be so British about it or be more British about it I don't know. Either way, barring global warming its all stiff that one can get over just fine. Arguably the dismantling of the NHS is a good thing (unless you were hoping that the government would effectively save money in iensions by killing off poor people through substandard healthcare in which case shame on you). Racism is surely less of a problem than it ever was. Trump I can't decide on. On the one hand America is doing just fine (unemployment is at its lowest since 1969,thr economy has been going strong for the past 8 years despite trump) and the situation is interesting (although I can't say I am filled with hope) but the situation in Iran can be describe as deteriorating. Surely he must be a Russian puppet? Surprised that you haven't included Russia for that matter. Or jihadism/the current crisis in Islam. You should add those to your list of things to be alarmed about along with copper scarcity.

Racecardriver · 08/10/2018 18:36

*situation in NK is interesting.

Alpacanorange · 08/10/2018 18:38

Don’t get that feeling. At all.

11 years to stop climate change apocalypse according to scientists. We're totally fucked. Wish I hadn't had kids, poor bastards.

Our homegrown (Not ferried/flown thousands of miles and arrive half ripe hard and tasteless whilst causing global warming) is the best available, what is this problem,
just seen on news might not have lettuce, I've been growing cut and come again lettuce on the windowsill all winter.
I know not every one has time or space to grow their own but farmers markets have some of the best produce available, they just need to make it cheaper, Instead of letting the EU dictate terms why doesn't the government use its combined brain (stop sniping and back stabbing) to help farmers produce and sell its delicious product in the UK, also look after our fishing industries, we can feed ourselves and their is always some one to buy our products, ok it may take a while but our freedom and independence will be worth the wait.
Sorry about the rant Smile

UABVU. There's no point in worrying about anything that is outside of your control. All you will do is become negative and repel others with your negativity.

Perhaps see your GP as you may be suffering with anxiety and/or depression if you are feeling so utterly overwhelmed. You may benefit from some counselling and/or medication.

There are so many good things yet you are focussing on the things you aren't happy with.

Enjoy the weekend. Walk in the sunshine. Look at crocuses, primula and daffodils in gardens. Listen to the birds singing. Relax with a coffee. Be grateful for everything you do have - family, friends, health, a roof over your head. In short, try to always look on the bright side of life. You will find this can become a habit and you will soon naturally view things that way and become happier.

You forgot, crime rate increasing and Police cuts. I wake up with a start every morning and a feeling like a punch in the gut.

I try to tell myself not to worry but my subconscious doesn't listen.

You should see a professional about your abnormal anxiety . Not normal to "wake up with a start every morning and a feeling like a punch in the gut".
Your primary concern should be your high risk of stress induced cardiac arrest!
