DH thrown present away

AIBU to be annoyed with DH.
My mum sent him a birthday present - card , box chocolates and a leather card holder with £5 in. Card holder and chocolates wrapped separately.
All three wrapped in brown paper.
He received it early . So unwrapped brown paper and threw away .
Taking out card and chocolates (still in wrapping paper).
He threw leather card holder and five pounds away!
She has just telephoned and asked if he liked presents. And I realised he hadn’t mentioned card holder.
Trouble is the bins have been emptied since he threw paper away.
I will have to lie to her and say we found it in the bin.

Oh dear he's a silly billy isn't he? Yeah just lie and say it's great thanks

AuntBeastie · 06/10/2018 18:44

Sounds like it was just an accident tbh

BertrandRussell · 06/10/2018 18:46

Did he do it on purpose?

Thingsdogetbetter · 06/10/2018 18:48

Did that with £200 once, but fortunately the bins hadn't been collected. Phew and gross.

Cora1942 · 06/10/2018 18:48

No he didn’t do it on purpose - but I always check mail bags , paper before throwing out .
It just respectful to the sender to check.

You can be annoyed if you like, but he's the one who loses out for his own carelessness, so I wouldn't bother. If it was your present he'd thrown away, then fair enough to be annoyed.

Cora1942 · 06/10/2018 18:51

Yes I’m at fault here too as said to mother he hadn’t mentioned it. Trouble is I have aspergers so find lies difficult .

Yabu . He obviously didn’t throw it away on purpose.

His present he lost.

We all make mistakes

Cora1942 · 06/10/2018 18:56

Wow that was lucky.

I threw £75 in the bin one Christmas. It was my stepdaughters and got caught up in wrapping paper. Just be honest. Mistakes happen x
