Does this sound ok? Am I overthinking?

Ds 10yo is in year 6 at school.

A lot of his friends are walking home now. We live over a mile away so I don't want him to walk home alone (bad area, lots of main roads, isolated route).

He's absolutely desperate to walk home and asked if he can walk so far and met me in the side road where I park so that at least he can walk so far with his friend. 2 minutes up the road from the school.

I though this would be fine but then started worrying what if I got held up, or had a car accident on the way, and he was left stranded in the street.

You are over thinking it. Tell him to wait at an exact spot for you if you are late and never walk off. If there is any messing revoke the privilege. Give kids responsibility and they will thrive
