Favourite John Lewis Christmas Ad?

autumnnightsaredrawingin · 05/10/2018 22:48

I know IANU to mention Christmas in October. Smile

But which John Lewis Christmas ad over the tears has been your favourite?or do you think they’re all rubbish

Mine has got to be ‘The Long Wait’ (2011) followed by ‘The man on the Moon’ (2015).

@Honeyroar

Best advert ever!

bridgetoc · 06/10/2018 06:58

O.K...... I'm ashamed to admit that I love all of them. The Penguin one especially.

gothefcktosleep · 06/10/2018 07:04

I don’t like any of them.
I wish I got the fuss over zjohn Lewis but I always feel like I’m in a parallel universe when people talk about their adverts. I feel so low rent because of it. Grin

Jaxtellerswife · 06/10/2018 07:19

The penguin one with the 'real love' song. It came out just as I had my first child and the sight and sound of it seemed to react with my hormones so I became a blubbering mess whenever it was one. I now well up if I hear it

WelcomeToShootingStars · 06/10/2018 07:40

I hate them all.

NachoCheese22 · 06/10/2018 07:52

Monty the penguin. Makes me well up everytime.

I have only seen the most recent ones but I just love the pengin one. It makes me cry every time.

The little boy has no friends or siblings, but he doesn't need them because he has something really cool - a real live penguin as a pet! Except he doesn't, it's only a toy he imagines is real. It's him who is lonely, not the penguin. Sad

AuntBeastie · 06/10/2018 08:05

Can’t remember the name but the one where the boy can’t wait to give his parents their present

HenryInTheTunnel · 06/10/2018 08:07

The Long Wait was lovely.

I liked the Symphony one with the girl and her dad that was on BBC last year too. He'd been paying attention all along.....

MintyJones · 06/10/2018 08:14

Well I do like Hare & Bear but all I think is SELFISH HARE!

We do not wake bears from hibernation do we? No!

Looking forward to the Elton john JL Xmas advert though. That'll be a tear jerker

Longtalljosie · 06/10/2018 08:19

Yes the BBC Symphony one is just perfect

starr28 · 06/10/2018 09:10

Love a Xmas advert. Think 'The long wait' is my fave one as it can still bring a tear. Loved the penguins too though didn't like the bonkers search to find a penguin for my DD that Xmas. Ended up with the girl one and a letter from Santa dating sorry he was overrun with orders so boys got a Monty and girls a Mabel !! Roll on this year !

Asterado · 06/10/2018 09:20

I can’t choose. The Man in the Moon made me sob uncontrollably though.

Non Christmas one but nobody’s mentioned the one with Paulina Faith singing Never Tear Is Apart by INXS. That was a good one.

GreenMeerkat · 06/10/2018 09:32

Always been the long wait for me. No matter how much they spend on CGI or how many celebs they get on board, that will always be the best one!

HappyGoDucky · 06/10/2018 19:59

Long wait, snowman and man on the moon. Aldi's spoof was good too Grin

EyUpOurKid · 06/10/2018 21:39

Buster the boxer. My DS was born late November and he had a Buster the boxer as his first ever toy. I absolutely LOVED the dog jumping on the trampoline to all emotional crescendo music and then the sound cutting out and it just being him having fun and yipping about. I tear up thinking about it even now!

DS loved Moz the year after though.

IceRebel · 06/10/2018 21:48

I agree @Anasnake The Christmas truce one was amazing

Villainelle · 06/10/2018 21:55

The Man in the moon was too sad for Christmas. Really good message though but heartbreaking

Oysterbabe · 06/10/2018 22:00

I've always liked this one

Livness12 · 07/10/2018 08:47

The first one where the little boy is so excited for Christmas and then rushes in to give his parents their present.

It was 2011, and my mum had died in the August. I was 22 so an adult but it just absolutely broke me to think I would never get that chance to give my mum a Christmas present again - and just at that age of adulthood where I was more independent and able to spend my own money on presents.

That will always be my favourite.

MirandaWest · 07/10/2018 08:50

Monty the penguin for me. Makes me cry.

MirandaWest · 07/10/2018 08:51

My DC like teasing me about it BlushGrin

Polarbearflavour · 07/10/2018 16:30

GingerLDN · 07/10/2018 19:39

The Long Wait and also the Paloma Faith ‘Never year us apart’ Autumn/Winter ad. Think they were possibly the same year. Gorgeous ads
