Favourite John Lewis Christmas Ad?

autumnnightsaredrawingin · 05/10/2018 22:48

I know IANU to mention Christmas in October. Smile

But which John Lewis Christmas ad over the tears has been your favourite?or do you think they’re all rubbish

Mine has got to be ‘The Long Wait’ (2011) followed by ‘The man on the Moon’ (2015).

The penguins got me. They were toys all along 😭

MamaJune · 06/10/2018 00:15

The penguin, snow man and man in the moon get me every time. We lost a dear relative today and I thought I couldn't cry anymore, but here we are!

TheFluffyHippo · 06/10/2018 00:19

The Long Wait is mine. Still makes me tear up a bit when I look it up on YouTube

SadieLancaster · 06/10/2018 00:20

Monty the penguin.

PickAChew · 06/10/2018 00:22

Horny penguins. Still have the cushions!

batshitbetty · 06/10/2018 00:22

Pretty much hated them all, and can't understand why people go all gooey about them - they are adverts (that are usually on for waaaay too long in the lead up to Christmas). Thank god for sky and being able to speed through them 👍

PickAChew · 06/10/2018 00:23

And, yeah, loved the stroppy teen boots one.

SadieLancaster · 06/10/2018 00:25

Just remembered - not a Christmas one but loved the “Tiny Dancer” JL home insurance one 😁

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 06/10/2018 00:36

My favourites are Monty the Penguin and The Hare & The Bear. Both ads bring a tear to my eye years later.
Also like Mr & Mrs Snowman too.

bowdownbeforelokitty · 06/10/2018 00:38

All about MOG for Me. The only advert that has ever made me cry.

HoomanMoomin · 06/10/2018 00:45

The Bear and the Hare. Then penguins
The long wait didn’t do anything for me tbh.

Figmentofimagination · 06/10/2018 00:54

For the story I love Monty the Penguin. Gets me teary every time.
For the music I love Ellie Goulding - your song, Lily Allen, and the man in the moon.

SunshineSnowflakesDaydreams · 06/10/2018 01:55

You're making me want to watch them but they all make me cry and being pregnant, I'm not sure I could actually recover myself!

The Bear and the Hare is my favourite. I also loved the Sainsbury's WW1 ad. M&S's Paddington Bear last year was lovely. And a few years ago M&S did an amazing fairytale ad with Rosie Huntington-Whitely and David Gandy.

Who am I kidding?!? I love them all!

Greyhound22 · 06/10/2018 02:37

The Bear and the Hare.

It was my greyhound's first Christmas with us - after 5 years in kennels. It started with the words 'There was once an animal that had never seen Christmas' and it really really upset me.

Welling up now thinking about it. Silly I know.

MemoryOfSleep · 06/10/2018 02:53

Penguins. Then bear and hare. I didn't much like mog tbh.

KC225 · 06/10/2018 02:59

Buster the Boxer. Love. Love. Love.

RoseGoldEagle · 06/10/2018 05:40

The long wait is far and away my favourite, makes me cry every time!

Monty27 · 06/10/2018 05:51

Yabvu. Christmas is marketing shit.
If you aren't religious but like Christmas crack on and get roped in to spending a fortune.
If you are religious it's only October. You have all saints and souls day to go yet
Don't forget trick or treat first Hmm
I am the most bah humbug person I know Grin

AFingerofFudge · 06/10/2018 06:00

Hey Monty at least you're named after a JL advert WinkGrin

toomuchtooold · 06/10/2018 06:31

Bear and the hare. My twins were 18m I remember so when it came out and I remember DD2 learning "bear" just so she could ask for it: "beah mummy. Moah beah. MOAH BEAH." Super cute.

Honeyroar · 06/10/2018 06:43

I didn't like many of them, I've hated all the messed up song versions. I liked the boxer ad, can't remember who's it was though!

Which is The Long Wait?

BikeRunSki · 06/10/2018 06:46

The one which follows a little girl through her life, walking round the same house, always in a red dress. It starts with her in a cot, and ends up with her arms an old jars wurg her family all around her. I thought it was very clever.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 06/10/2018 06:51

Bear and Hare by a country mile.

PurpleFlower1983 · 06/10/2018 06:51

The Long Wait is superb.

Longtalljosie · 06/10/2018 06:54

The bear and the hare does nothing for me. The trampoline one made me itch - it’s a new trampoline! Let the child use it first! That hedgehog probably has fleas!

The Long Wait makes me tear up every time...
