To expect tights to last more than 1 wear?

Now it's getting chillier I have worn tights 3x this week. Every single pair has laddered for no apparent reason during my day at work. Think they were M+S and Charnos brands so not cheap.

Surely we must be able to invent tights that last longer?

I wear Primark tights for work (and I’m constantly on my feet and running around) and they last months. Never had laddering issues!

Yep, I have primark tights older than my children. Save your money and go stock up Wink

covetingthepreciousthings · 05/10/2018 20:25

If you still have the receipts I would return them.
I have some M&S tights that have lasted a year which is a miracle for me as usually they ladder instantly. I can't remember what type they were but they were one of the more pricier options they had.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 05/10/2018 20:29

Hmm I have this problem but since it happens to every single pair from the cheapest up to the priciest (for me that's about a fiver!) I have figured that I'm clumsy and heavy handed with them. And have a cat. And children with Velcro bags and shoes which will fuck up even the most quality hosiery.

I bought 5 pairs of tights from snag following lots of recommendations on here. I’m now 4 for 4 on them “snag”ging first wear so maybe the name is not ironic.

Leona Edminston tights would survive an atomic bomb. I once tripped over in a pair. My knees were grazed and bleeding everywhere but the tights were absolutely fine. Not even stained by the blood after going through the washing machine.

SerenDippitty · 05/10/2018 20:37

Of course they could invent everlasting tights if they wanted, but it would be commercial suicide if they did.

NotOnTheBench · 06/10/2018 09:17

Racecardriver - oddly last year that happened to me! Lots of blood but tights were fine!

I'm off to primark!

SerenDippitty same principle as kettles and washing machines. We can make everlasting ones but no one would make any money.

I wear Wolford tights. They are extremely expensive but they last over a year.
