Hi all

Does anyone do this from home? You know, the little boxes that pop up or live chat links that you click for help?

If so, do you work directly for a company or an agency?

What are the rates of pay like?

TIA!

I'm not sure you can do it from home - generally most of this stuff involves taking peoples' personal details and they have to be very strict with security - my sister works for a call centre/online chat and they are not allowed phones or pen and paper at their desks.

Watching with interest though, im job hunting atm and this sort of thing would be ideal.

Aren't they mostly base overseas though. Where cost of labour is cheap and the operators are given anglicised names.

Most of them are just simple chatbots. They pick up a word from the original question, and serve up any pages with that word in them, which tends to sort out 60-70% of queries.

I did once come across an agency but I can't for the life of me remember what they were called. They provided live chat for such as bingo sites, online shops etc answering basic questions but they did also provide training to be able to work for insurance companies and similar. I think a few people who work from home will deal with personal data, you will just need an undertaking to use encrypted software and follow the rules I suppose.
