To make my child pay for dog care?

We have DD aged 23 living with us as well as a DS aged 14 and 2 family dogs. When my daughter moves out the dogs will stay with us, they aren’t her dogs specifically.

When we go away DD looks after the dogs for us, although I do have to pay for dog day care as she’s at work full time and can’t come back during the day. If we go away all together as a family AIBU to ask her to contribute to the dog boarding cost?

How can you think you are anything other than unreasonable. They aren't her dogs? They're family dogs? Do you get her to pay for your passport renewal as well?

HavelockVetinari · 03/10/2018 18:27

Pah. Reversy-Percy.

bridgetreilly · 03/10/2018 18:28

Wow. Just because she does you a favour and looks after them when you go away without her doesn't mean she has to pay for them when she gets to go away as well.

MountainPeakGeek · 03/10/2018 18:28

Totally unreasonable. Can't understand why you are even considering it - it doesn't make any sense at all.

FinnegansWhiskers · 03/10/2018 18:29

Struggling to think why you would expect your dd to pay for dog care when the dogs are not hers...🤔

Biancadelriosback · 03/10/2018 18:29

I don't understand your logic

Blackoutblinds · 03/10/2018 18:29

Reverse?

ApolloandDaphne · 03/10/2018 18:32

You need to factor in the cost of dog care into the holiday costs. If she is paying her own portion of the holiday she may agree (or may not) to pay a portion of the dog care but she should not be responsible solely for that cost.

Soubriquet · 03/10/2018 18:35

Your dogs, you pay.

When I lived at home and had a dog, I paid for everything for him. When my mum got a dog...I somehow ended up paying everything for her too Hmm

But he was my responsibility so my payment

Rebecca36 · 03/10/2018 18:42

Very unreasonable, they are not her dogs. Not much point in living at home with parents if you're going to be charged for all sorts of things.

unfortunateevents · 03/10/2018 18:42

This is a reverse.

Butterymuffin · 03/10/2018 18:45

Why do you regard your daughter as somehow financially responsible for the family dogs?

Villanellesproudmum · 03/10/2018 18:46

Missing the point but £850!!

Vandree · 03/10/2018 18:50

Eh, they aren't her dogs! I mind my mams dog under duress, if I cant though I would laugh myself sick if she charged me to pay for kennels. Who pays the food and vet bills?

Thisreallyisafarce · 03/10/2018 18:52

Who purchased the animals?

blaaake · 03/10/2018 19:08

Eh? You want your daughter to pay for your dog to go in kennels?? You are completely beyond unreasonable, I'm lost for words Confused

Bridgetwithoutthejones · 03/10/2018 19:09

Sorry can I ask what a reverse is?
But yes you are being unreasonable

Nanny0gg · 03/10/2018 19:09

I do have to pay for dog day care as she’s at work full time and can’t come back during the day.

Not her problem

If we go away all together as a family AIBU to ask her to contribute to the dog boarding cost?

Not her problem

HTH

Sitranced · 03/10/2018 19:11

You said yourself they aren't her dogs why should she pay for them?

WalkingTed · 03/10/2018 19:53

villandellesproudmum tgat did include a daily home visit to feed the cats......

TaggieRR · 03/10/2018 19:55

Why would she pay if they are not her dogs?

MissusGeneHunt · 03/10/2018 19:56

El reverso....

OnceUponATimeInAmerica · 03/10/2018 19:57

Has to be a reverse, surely.

Armchairanarchist · 03/10/2018 19:57

You know this is unreasonable.

ButterflyWitch · 03/10/2018 19:57

Must be a reverse
