Posting for traffic.

1 year old DS with undescended testicle. Been waiting ages for referral, anyone with any experience of this? Does it always mean surgery and should I make a fuss about waiting so long or is it not urgent?

You should chase it up - NHS says it should be corrected (yes, very minor surgery if they don't sort themselves out) before 12 months old for best results. Reference : www.nhs.uk/conditions/undescended-testicles/treatment/

@SpoonBlender Thankyou for replying! I will phone the doctors and chase it up

My son had surgery on his. It required an sedative and epidural and was very minor. He was literally running around the ward within an hour (no one could believe it). We were discharged with 4 hours of the surgery. No problems since. We waited quite a while for surgery and he was over 2 whwn it was done.

I would chase it up. My son had the operation just before he turned 2 we are abroad and that is standard here. Our doctor kept checking and said waiting until 2 does no harm. Plus I felt more comfortable with anaesthetic with him being older

Quick call to the GP should get this moving OP. We've had similar which was corrected with a minor operation. In and out the same day. But you should chase it up I think as we were monitored with scans every 6 months before it was decided to operate (was a slightly different operation though.)

I'm very relieved to here it's not a major op! Everything I read says it should be done before 12 months so was worrying 🤦🏻‍♀️
