How many teas?

JellySlice · 02/10/2018 20:09

Please tell me I'm not the only one!

At one end of the shelf behind the kettle there are four pots that dh uses: tea, coffee, cocoa and sugar. The rest is the pots and boxes that I use: 14 different teas - herbal, black, green, non-leaf brews too.

It's NU, surely? The dc have something from 'my' side more often than from the other side, and it's nice to offer to guests.

I have chai latte in a tub, chai latte teabags,Tesco ordinary tea, peppermint teabags, chocolate orange teabags, pear and caramel teabags, spiced apple ones and strawberries and cream ones.I'm running low, really need to stock up.

I'm a tea-aholic and may need help.

LifeofClimb · 02/10/2018 20:55

4 different kinds at home... about 20 in the office. Blush

lisasimpsonssaxophone · 02/10/2018 21:03

I can’t drink caffeine so I have about 14 different Pukka teas. The boxes are so pretty! I can’t stand liquorice to eat but I love it in tea (plus I swear my skin looks better when I drink it). My favourite is the Mint Refresh one, minty but with the sweetness of liquorice and a hint of rose. Actually I think I need to make one now!

Poodles1980 · 02/10/2018 21:03

Im Irish so tea is life. I have m&s breakfast tea and gold blend along with normal Lyons tea. Dh drinks Barry’s tea and we also have earl grey and a box of loose leaf tea for when my mum calls over.

lostelephant · 02/10/2018 21:12

Not unreasonable! DP started buying lots of different teas when he had a break from alcohol a few years ago. I ended up getting on board and now we have a cupboard full along with loads of infusers and fancy tea pots. I think of it as our little hobby, we love going to places like Whittard and T2 to try new flavours.

MerlinsScarf · 02/10/2018 21:17

Oh I love T2 and Whittards! We have 10 teas or thereabouts. Earl Grey, rotating brands of regular tea, lemon and ginger, spiced apple, cherry and cinnamon etc.

Can I take the opportunity to recommend Twinings strawberry? I thought it wouldn't taste of much but it's got a lovely clear flavour.

WeShouldBeFriends · 02/10/2018 21:21

I absolutely adore a gorgeous herbal tea....box! By that I mean I love the smells, the interesting flavours and the beautiful designs (particularly Pukka) but I hardly ever drink them. I have a whole cupboard full but pretty much only drink regular tea/coffee!

JellySlice · 02/10/2018 22:12

Oh I do adore a tea box, too. Whenever I see a particularly beautiful, large, wooden one I think "Oooh I want one of those!" But I never get it, because what I really want is a tea cupboard.

I'm quite fussy about my teas. No flavourings - has to be the real leaf, or flower, or twig, or peel, or whatever (though I'll allow vanilla extract). I tried salted caramel green tea once. Never again.

vampirethriller · 02/10/2018 22:35

Assam, decaf tea, instant decaf coffee, 3x fruit tea, peppermint tea, Horlicks and hot chocolate.

DramaAlpaca · 02/10/2018 22:35

I love tea. I have Yorkshire tea & Lyons tea for everyday. Then I have Assam & Earl Grey, both tea bags & loose leaf. There's also some Jasmine tea, and a few fruit tea bags. I don't like them myself but I keep a few for guests. Oh, and I have some decaf tea bags too.

Crunchymum · 02/10/2018 22:39

We have Yorkshire tea and Twinnings Chamomile. I'm the only tea drinker in the house.

BikeRunSki · 02/10/2018 22:40

Yorkshire
That is all you need

LancashireTea · 02/10/2018 23:00

I have a tea cupboard. It's got about 25 different types of tea in it from flavoured black teas to fruit infusions. Totally dependent on my mood.

I do tend to be lazy and have a mug of English breakfast (Yorkshire for hard water: I know... The irony) as sometimes I can't be arsed with the faff of my leaf teas. And sometimes only a proper brew will do.

If I was at home, I'd drink a tea every hour!

CatLadyToddlerMother · 02/10/2018 23:02

I have two types of normal tea; caf and decaf, coffee which I don't drink. several different hot chocolates; make with water, make with milk then different flavours. And then flavoured teas as well.

But it is just me and 3 year old DD so I can have what I want

Anoushkasays · 02/10/2018 23:10

Im teetotal so tea is my life!
I have English Breakfast, decaff, peppermint, earl grey, matcha, green tea (plain, with lemon, and with jasmine), chai, chamomile and fennel. As tea bags.
I then have loose leaf ceylon, lady grey, and dried hibiscus flowers.

JustBeingJobless · 02/10/2018 23:15

I can’t stand fruit or herbal teas, so just have Yorkshire tea here.

Aldilogue · 02/10/2018 23:31

I just counted and I have 19!! Love a variety

ToadOfSadness · 03/10/2018 08:02

We have about 12 little boxes of different teas, including mixes of ginger, chamomile and lemon in various forms, Earl Grey, Lapsang Souchong, some fruit teas, mint, Moroccan, vanilla and I forget the rest. Also a box of ginger drink, a tin of lavender and chamomile, a box of de-caf and 2 tins of Yorkshire bags plus a packet of loose leaf. There is also a box of coffee bags, a jar of Douwe Egberts, a tin of Costa, and a jar of dandelion coffee.

I am not going to buy any more tea bags until Yorkshire stop using plastic, once these are used up, and as for the others, I only use the Lapsang for cooking and rarely the Earl Grey, both are Twinings so not sure of the plastic situation with them but will check before buying any more. Have dug out the infusers (metal not silicon).

LiquoricePickle · 03/10/2018 13:35

I have about 8 types of coffee, PG tips, pukka womankind, pukka pregnancy, camomile, peppermint, liquorice and peppermint, green, white, pu'er, local green, fruit boost,, loose fruit, rosehip, rose and lychee, winter dream and blueberry. Think that's it at the moment.

Bluebelltulip · 03/10/2018 13:40

Jellyslice my DH has a tea cupboard. It's a thin one but he has a lot of types of tea. I'm more of a coffee and hot chocolate person.

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 03/10/2018 13:42

Bit much really.

RubiksQueen · 03/10/2018 13:45

I knew this would be a 'how many is too many' from the title and the answer is

None too many. You can never have too much tea.

multivac · 03/10/2018 13:46

Assam for me and Mr M. Rooibos for the kids. And then a random selection of herbal/fruit teas left by itinerant musicians who've stayed a night or two. Oh, and proper coffee in the freezer. And hot chocolate for the kids when they don't want tea. And 'cappuccino' sachets for younger son. And, for some reason, coffee filter papers. We don't have a coffee filter machine.

Sitranced · 03/10/2018 13:48

At least 20 loose leaf black and green teas and probably about the same again for tisanes or herbals. Plus 4 pu erh teas locked away for a special occasion. No teabags though.
