To be concerned by weird Freedom of Information Act requests?

I was Googling my address and have noticed that last year someone used one of those portals to make freedom of information act requests to make several weird ones about my address. These include requests to the police about all documents held about a brothel operating at the address... all documents related to human trafficking at the address.. requests to the council about all documents related to it being a HMO. And a request about sex offenders living at the address!! All requests were refused but I have no idea who did it, they are the first thing that come up when you Google my address and "mud stick"!!! Site won't remove them as they "a matter of public record"

I would add I have lived here for twenty years and before me an old couple had lived here for many years

Do you have a lot of gentleman callers?

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 02/10/2018 07:17

That is really odd. I think you can get google to remove some info, but don’t know if that’s only in relation to people.

CrabbityRabbit · 02/10/2018 07:17

How weird and unsettling. Do you live alone? Have any odd neighbors? Anyone with a grudge against you?

Shoxfordian · 02/10/2018 07:19

I'm guessing the site is whatdotheyknow
You can ask that they redact your address because it's not fair for it to be included, reference the GDPR. They can leave the request and remove your address.

AuntBeastie · 02/10/2018 07:20

How weird! Was it your specific address or could it have encompassed more than one house? Are there other houses near by they could have mixed you up with?

Anyone you can think of with a grudge who might be trying to cause trouble?

Rainbowshine · 02/10/2018 07:29

Is it possible that your address is similar to another e.g. Smith Road and there’s a Smith Street? Agree that whatdotheyknow should redact addresses if you report it.

ChairmanMiaow123 · 02/10/2018 08:13

There’s a website called ‘What Do They Know?’ which may tell you all you need to know.
You can search for the organisation that the requests were made to and the relevant details should be available to you; and if any personal information (about you) is redacted, then you can make your own request to read it, as it’s within ‘the scope’ of a request.

I deal with FOI requests at work, in case you were wondering.
