So, those of you who believe that TWAW, do you agree that this person is a woman?

If so, by what markers are they a woman?

If not, by what markers are they not: where is the line you draw?

And if you support self ID, would you be happy with this individual being able to access women’s toilets, changing rooms, sexual abuse support groups?

Do you think that this person should serve their prison sentence in the female estate?

If so, why?

If not, why not?

I am really interested to know how you think about this sort of case, if you genuinely believe that TWAW.

I am quite ignorant of all the issues regarding the trans self ID debate, and I'm sure I'll be corrected forthwith! However I don't see in this instance that identifying as a woman would make any difference to what this person has done, I'm disgusted as I'm sure most are, but I'd be just as disgusted if this were a biological man, biological woman trans man, trans woman or they identified as a rabbit, makes no difference to what they have done.
However if the self ID is being used to gain access to a women's prison to serve the sentence, or will be used in some other way to avoid the concequences of what they have done, or avoid the sanctions placed after sentence by way of changing names etc then nope, absolutely not. Should be a condition of the sentence.

Its being recorded as a crime committed by a woman.
Women, as a class, in general, commit very very few violent, sexual, paedophilia crimes. It doesnt take many men ID ing as female, for the crime figures to be skewed dramatically by a few self ID'd women being added onto the female crime rate. Police have been recording crimes based on someones gender identity rather than biological sex for a number of years now.

When there is a massive rise in female sex crime statistically, it means that we cannot trust the figures, we cannot know if this really is a thing, or whether many of those crimes were actually commited by men. The only ones we can 100% be sure of are rape cases because in the UK rape can ONLY be done by a penis (otherwise its penetration with an object)

When the rate of female sex crime raises, men are able to say 'well look, women do it too, there is no difference' There is no way to examine violence against women and girls, which is overwhelmingly a male crime. We lose the ability to talk about issues that affect women.

It is also pertinent to note that, forgetting about 'true trans' or not, the most common paraphila for sex offenders is cross dressing and autogynophillia.

Like smoking. Not everyone who smokes will die of lung cancer. In fact absolutely the majority of them will not. But most people with lung cancer are smokers.

Not all people who identify as women are sex offenders, In fact absolutely the majority of them are not. But most sex offenders are autogynaphilliac cross dressers.

Has anyone tweeted this to the Dr who shall not be named who doesn't understand biology?

Buswankeress · 01/10/2018 22:04

@Nettletea
Thank you, that makes a great deal of sense and is indeed worrying, that the crime is to be recorded as being done by a woman for the reasons you have explained. In my mind it has also raised the question of DNA evidence - this would also be an issue I'd think if the DNA was male but the suspect identified as female and had all record changed to reflect this, without cause to force a DNA test ( other evidence) would this potentially be another way to avoid getting caught?

TalkingintheDark · 01/10/2018 22:46

Buswankeress in addition, self ID, which transactivists are pushing for, would mean that an individual like this (were he still at liberty) would be 100% entitled to access any and all women/girls only spaces. Not just toilets, but changing rooms (including the open plan kind with showers you have at some pools/gyms), women’s refuges, sexual assault survivors’ support groups, and just generally any group currently meant to be for women only.

I think you can see how that would be problematic. Especially when you factor in the fact that if you objected to his presence in any one of these places, you could be seen to be committing a hate crime.

We didn't introduce sex segregated spaces because we thought ALL men were dangerous, we did it because SOME men are dangerous and we know that most men are not. However, those spaces were made in order to minimise the likelihood of MALE VIOLENCE against women occurring at all.

Just like we don't think ALL tws are dangerous, we don't think that most tws are dangerous, we only think that SOME tws are dangerous and want to continue to be protected against that danger.

This is some guidance on filling in the current government consultation on allowing males to self-ID as women without a medical diagnosis (There is already no requirement for males to have any kind of surgery or hormones to legally become a women):

fairplayforwomen.com/how-to/

You don't need to answer all the questions and the step-by-step guide just goes through the most important questions to answer.

SPOFS · 02/10/2018 05:26

If this criminal goes to a women's prison, I will be organizing a protest outside.

SadAngry

TalkingintheDark · 02/10/2018 09:11

You can hold off making the placards for now @SPOFS - he’s in Winchester (male) prison.

But I don’t think anyone will be surprised when he asks to be transferred to a women’s prison.

The only question mark is whether the prison service will have learnt from the case of “Karen” White, and turn him down - or not.

Karen White, aka David Thompson

Even the Guardian managed to present the view this might not be a good idea:
