To ask for overweight experiences at alton towers

Justanothernamechange2 · 01/10/2018 09:48

Supposed to be going to A.T next week but im worried im too fat.

Im aware of the "chest restrictions" noted on the website - im not worried about those, im not exactly top heavy.

My issues are my thighs and tum. I wear a 18 top and a 22jeans. I worry about the bars coming down and my thighs being too chunky for them to close.

Does anyone have any experience to put my mind at rest, or even stories that will make me stay home instead

OP posts:

smallslate, what a nasty thing to say. My mum suffered with weight gain after having me as she had to have a hysterectomy and take steroids, her body hasn’t been the same since and she’s dieted and struggled and hates theme parks and water parks. She used to be thin but couldn’t help her weight gain and now can’t keep it off.

If you can’t say anything productive and kind, please fuck off out this thread.

Otherwise best of luck on the day OP! Have a wicked time. Xxx

BumDisease · 01/10/2018 11:23

"I'm saying this as a (hopefully soon to be former) fatty myself, I'm halfway to my goal weight and a bit of real talk did me no harm."

Good for you.

You still haven't answered the question of how the OP can lose that kind of weight in a week.

ProfessorMoody · 01/10/2018 11:23

@SmallState - you have no idea why the OP is overweight, what health issues they have, whether they have disabilities etc.

People like you are exactly the reason why I feel anxious to leave the house sometimes. I'm a size 24, due to medications and the fact that I'm in a wheelchair so can't move around much. People like you, with your disgusting, judgy attitudes have a huge impact on people like me, who have enough to deal with without being told to lose weight. If it was that simple, do you honestly think I wouldn't have.

Then people like you bring out the "snowflake" insult. Always. It has nothing to do with being a snowflake. It has to do with the fact that the OP's body is fuck all to do with you, and she shouldn't have to be told to lose weight when she's asking a question about a theme park ride.

"Snowflakes" are usually fucking nice people who care about others and have empathy and respect. You might want to take some lessons from us. Though I often find that people like you don't have the intellectual capacity for kindness and understanding.

SmallState · 01/10/2018 11:25

Though I often find that people like you don't have the intellectual capacity for kindness and understanding. Doesn't like what I has to say, lectures me about empathy, casts aspersions about my intellect. Irony is delicious (and zero calories).

RefuseTheLies · 01/10/2018 11:27

Hi op - I went to Alton towers last year and I’m 17 stone. I was fine and was even ok on the kids rides in CBeebies land. Have fun!

Poppylizzyrose · 01/10/2018 11:27

I’m not over weight currently , but my mum and sister and me all have polycystic ovaries, which is linked to weight gain and other complications.

Theme parks can be so stressful for people and they’re supposed to be fun.

What you said was thoughtless and unkind and I hope you feel ashamed smallslate, smallminded more like!

Fontofnoknowledge · 01/10/2018 11:28

I absolutely agree with your right to freedom of speech smallstate and I would be the first in the queue to say that we need to stop pussyfooting around the issue of obesity. That we obese people need to wake up and sort it out. .. all that stuff is just fine in my book.. however. Your comments are nothing to do with freedom of speech. Your words are a complete non sequitur. The OP didn't post with a question about weight loss. She posted about wanting to know about AT rides when her size may exceed the capacity of the ride.

Your interjection was therefore deliberate , literally uncalled for. Added nothing to the conversation as the comment wasn't even logical given the time scale and designed to be deliberately offensive from your 'safe zone' behind a keyboard.

I feel rather sorry for someone who feels the need to attack like this. It's usually a sign of some serious inadequacies in their lives.

MarthasGinYard · 01/10/2018 11:28

Small 'state' etc

You've obviously posted on the wrong thread

This ones about Alton Towers flower....

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 01/10/2018 11:30

It's called freedom of speech, get used to it snowflakes

That makes you sound juvenile and ridiculous.

ProfessorMoody · 01/10/2018 11:30

Doesn't like what I has to say

Sorry, didn't quite understand that bit. It's not my fat neck getting in the way of my ears either, it's your poor grammar.

I'll tell you what else is zero calories. Kindness towards others. Swallow some of that.

MarthasGinYard · 01/10/2018 11:30

Op I have only witnessed this on Galactica and once on 13 but the gentleman looked far, far heavier than you describe.

Have a great day

MemoryOfSleep · 01/10/2018 11:31

Anyone else feel like smallstate is deliberately trying to get a rise out of others and that perhaps we should stop responding to them?

OP, you'll be fine. Have a wonderful time. 🙂

Sparklesocks · 01/10/2018 11:31

SmallState the OP asked for experiences of overweight people on rides at AltonTowers, she didn't ask for how she could better fit on rides. Do you struggle with reading comprehension?

And nobody on this thread cares about your weight loss journey either. Put a low fat ryvita in your mouth and pipe down.

HandlebarTash81 · 01/10/2018 11:31

Ignore any PP who also advocates using violence to solve problems in previous threads...

Good luck, OP!

BillywilliamV · 01/10/2018 11:31

Im a size 18 in tops and dresses but I am over 6ft tall, my bmi is 25 which is as it should be. You cant judge anything by peoples dresz size ffs!

MrsDrSpencerReid · 01/10/2018 11:32

Well said Font

JacquesHammer · 01/10/2018 11:32

It's called freedom of speech, get used to it snowflakes

Oh bless you - do you think "freedom of speech" means you can say what you want and nobody responses.

That's not how it works - it just makes you look a complete bellend.

Celebelly · 01/10/2018 11:33

Just because you can say something doesn't mean you should. People who spout on about 'free speech' to justify rudeness are just tiresome. I do feel a bit sorry for them though; it must be exhausting not being able to keep your mouth shut when you're not asked something.

Poppylizzyrose · 01/10/2018 11:34

On topic!

Let us know how your day goes OP :) I haven’t been for years and was desperate to go this summer just gone but I didn’t as could t go on rides (pregnancy) I’m really excited to go next year, I want to pretty much experience every theme park U.K. has to offer. :)

gamerchick · 01/10/2018 11:35

It's called freedom of speech, get used to it snowflakes

Yes it really does and that's always entertaining Grin please carry on smallstate

I didn't know there were tester seats to check you fit. I like that idea. Enjoy your trip OP.

SmallState · 01/10/2018 11:35

@HandlebarTash81 - hey, I'm just here to give to my views.

Boohooyouho · 01/10/2018 11:37

Ok. Ignoring the ignorant comments. I’m a size 22 and love Alton towers.

Rita- Ask the ride ops as one row of seats has more room than the other, think it’s the back of each car.
Thirteen- should be fine, I’ve never had a problem
Smiler-ditto
Nemesis- I fitted but it was tight, there is a bigger seat row 4 on certain trains. Plenty of space in that one, again, ask the ride op.
Oblivion- same as nemesis, again there’s a larger seat if your worried.
Air/galactica- I was fine but I know lots have problems so maybe check the seat outside
Spin ball- very tight but I managed it. Crossing your legs helps.

Not been on wicker man yet but it’s lap bats so assuming you can get into that ok.

Hope you have a great time

Sparklesocks · 01/10/2018 11:38

OP I did a quick google and found a few forum and blog posts on the same subject, if you don't get the answers you need here it might be helpful to look elsewhere too.

SmallState · 01/10/2018 11:38

Oh bless you - do you think "freedom of speech" means you can say what you want and nobody responses. @Jacques - I don't shy away from robust debate. In fact, I welcome it.

JacquesHammer · 01/10/2018 11:39

hey, I'm just here to give to my views

Let me guess, you regularly share memes on FB about "take me as you find me" and say "I calls a spade a spade" on a regular basis.
