To block Youtube's Recommeded Videos?

At the advise of a few posts on Mumsnet today I watched some wonderful interviews and panels with Julie Bindel, but just a glance at the recommended videos next to the ones I was watching just made my skin crawl.

They were all along the line of "feminist gets wrecked", "why feminism is wrong/hypocricital", etc. I got so sick of it that spend the remainder of my afternoon figure out how to block this feature, because I don't want to see anymore of these hateful suggestions that are the very opposite of videos I actually want to watch.

Well, mission accomplished! With some add-ons and some messing around with the configuration not only is that hateful list hidden, but it also stops the next video from automatically loading and playing.

I can finally enjoy Youtube (and a few other video sites) in peace again.

So uh, my question is if IABU for blocking a major Youtube feature that is actually responsible for the site's growth?

Can you do that??
Awesome, I will do do that my kid doesn't see inappropriate video suggestions. Genius!

You can.

I use a combination of UBlock Origin (which allows you to block individual elements from a website, as well as ads) and Autoplay No More.

Also if you type about:config in you browser you can fiddle with the settings some more. media.autoplay.enabled can be set to "false" This is ofcourse when you are on Firefox. Chrome uses different methods.

To go off on a complete tangent, one of my YouTube recommended videos was once someone eating a bowl of cereal Hmm

I have UBlock Origin to block ads but never thought of using it to block the creepy Youtube recommendations - genius!

You do need an add-on to block the next video from that recommendation list from loading automatically and playing. I have found no other way around that.
