Not really a AIBU but wanted a quick response.

I need to do a food shop, was going to order a click and collect today from Asda for tomorrow, but dont get paid till tomorrow. Would I still be able to do the order? Do they take the payment once the food has been picked and processed or when the order has been "checkedout" on the shopping page?

Does any of that make any sense....lol?

Thanks

If they're like Tesco they take about £2 to check the card works then the rest is taken once they've picked and processed the order on delivery day.

RebootYourEngine · 30/09/2018 15:59

They take a tiny amount such a 1 or 2 pound the rest gets taken once shopping is delivered/collected.

I think Asda are one of the ones that take the whole lot in advance then refund rather than taking a couple of quid so I don’t think it would work. It would be ok with Tesco though.

@gamerwidow oh bugger!

Asda ringfence the money as a pending payment I think. If it's the same as a few years ago they also then charge the full amount and the ring fenced amount takes a couple of days to be returned to your bank balance. They are also bloody useless, or our local one is.

Tesco charge a couple of quid as others have said.

With Asda, though, you can often get a click and collect slot same day, so you could fill your basket then pay in the morning for an evening collection. Tesco don't do that.

What twofrontteeth said. Definitely avoid Asda if funds are tight.

Glumglowworm · 30/09/2018 17:11

I use asda (delivery rather than click and collect) and I always complete the order when there’s hardly anything in my bank account for delivery on payday, they only take funds on the day of delivery, I’ve never had a problem with them ringfencing money at all, certainly not when I place the order

Bumble1830 · 30/09/2018 17:52

I've done it now. There was no problem, and I've had an order confirmation. Fingers crossed it still goes through.

Asda take a penny on the day you order, the rest on the day the shopping is due. I sometimes only have a couple of pence in my account when I do an order, it always goes through as long as the money to pay is in on time.
