To be mortified I just shouted 'fuck off you cunt' at my boss.

Bad day, terrible even. Was in a foul mood walking home from work. Crossing road at a T junction with my head down and a car beeped at me as it turned in to the minor road.
Assuming it was an impatient driver who honked at me to get out of the way, I looked up and shouted at the top of my voice 'FUCK OFF YOU CUNT!'
As the last word left my mouth I realised it was my boss and he was pipping his horn and waving to say hello. His window was down so I've no doubt he heard what I said.
We both looked at each other in horror as he drove off.
Shit, shit, shit.
It'll be ok, right?

I can’t believe you’re still getting stick despite your update pages back. I’m so sorry about your sister. When you said the worst day ever, I assumed it was a rubbish day at work as did other posters offering possible excuses. I’m so glad your boss is a good stick and appreciates that people, especially women can feel vulnerable on the street.

FriendlyLynn
Your boss “would have been extremely disappointed” in you. You are an adult and therefore your boss’s equal. If someone in a position of power said that to me, I would be extremely upset. I loathe hearing adults saying they are disappointed in others, especially a child. I find it vile. It deeply harms self esteem as it describes behaviour an immovable flaw. In this scenario, I would much be ops boss. Different people. Different triggers.

@DelilahandDaisy Hmm obviously none of us were there, but nobody else has a problem believing this happened. What's so unbelievable about it?

Langpants · 02/10/2018 05:58

@derxa - bog off. She's a legend for swearing like a banshee and getting away with it so well.

Maisymoo22 · 02/10/2018 07:31

Some people really need to grow up! If swearing is the worst some people do...
Sorry about your dsis op. 🙏🏻💐

Lethaldrizzle · 02/10/2018 07:43

I was once married to a swearer. He would shout and swear whilst driving, he would shout and swear out walking, but mostly he would shout and swear at me at home - 'fucking cunt' being one of his favourites, however - wanker, whore and bitch were also pretty popular. He always had an excuse for his outbursts. I'm sorry about your sister and I'm glad it's worked out with your boss but surely there are other ways to communicate. I'm not a cunt because I don't like swearing.

I'm glad this story ended as it should have - with everyone acting like adults with good humour and compassion. Unlike so many posters on this thread.
I find it bizarre how some people are on mumsnet. They always find something to relentlessly attack the OP for.

Shallishanti123 · 02/10/2018 07:59

Lethal drizzle, I am sorry that you are a domestic abuse victim, but please don't put the OP in that category. That's quite a stretch and pretty unfair really.

CollectingCoins · 02/10/2018 08:02

Friendly I am at a loss as to why anyone who finds swearing upsetting would be on MN. It should have taken you about five minutes to realize this wasn’t the place for you. Certainly this thread title should have been enough to warn you not to click in and risk distressing yourself Hmm

AGHHHH · 02/10/2018 08:03

@Shallishanti123 I agree. Completely uncalled for.

Ahhhh bless you OP.
Glad it turned out OK.
I lost my little sister to cancer in April.
Stay strong for her and make the most of all the time you have.

MacavityWasFramed · 02/10/2018 08:37

I'm sorry for your sister itchy - that's horrible news. I'm not surprised that you screamed abuse at some driver who (apparently) was honking to get you out of the way (I hate drivers doing that!). I'm very glad your boss and manager saw the funny side - you are all grown-ups, after all, and grown-ups realise that other grown-ups might be driven to unusual behaviour in unusually stressful situations. Anyway, even if you are now known forever as the person who accidentally swore violently at her boss, you've certainly made a good impression! Smile

Lots of fab stuff about the word 'cunt' here:

jackio2205 · 02/10/2018 08:41

@itchybumhole you are my spirit animal. I have just searched through the whole of this long bloody chain to read your posts, you craaaaaaack me up! I would buy you a drink and we'd cunt off every lawyer that has ever pissed us off (I too work for a big law firm) 😂😂😂😂

ProfessorMoody · 02/10/2018 08:42

Grown up, thanks. Plus, my 10 year old doesn't say cunt. It's a grown up word, dontcha know.

jackio2205 · 02/10/2018 08:42

@itchybumhole needless to say, but I am veeeeery sorry about your sister, that is super hard. Macmillan are amazing with support, please go their website and have a read up, there's all sorts of things on there that they tell u about that you wouldn't even realise! X

WrenNatsworthy · 02/10/2018 08:43

So all the people on this thread who never swear, what is it that you all do when you experience moments of stress? Are you all perfectly self - controlled at every moment despite what life throws at you?

I’m sorry OP :( but your post did make what I was feeling to be a bad day insignificant. Please update us on what happens today !

Yourenotericlove · 02/10/2018 08:53

I swear all the time. I say cunt a lot. I've never shouted it at the top of my voice at anyone. And I experience high levels of stress on an almost daily basis so it's definitely not that I don't experience stress.

ProfessorMoody · 02/10/2018 08:57

Moody I think you had better go or you will be late for school

Already there, children come in very shortly.

I do love a good swear but not that vile mysoginistic word

Quite the opposite. It's a great word for a fanny, many women use it. If you find it vile, fine, that's your problem, but other people don't.
