To be mortified I just shouted 'fuck off you cunt' at my boss.

Bad day, terrible even. Was in a foul mood walking home from work. Crossing road at a T junction with my head down and a car beeped at me as it turned in to the minor road.
Assuming it was an impatient driver who honked at me to get out of the way, I looked up and shouted at the top of my voice 'FUCK OFF YOU CUNT!'
As the last word left my mouth I realised it was my boss and he was pipping his horn and waving to say hello. His window was down so I've no doubt he heard what I said.
We both looked at each other in horror as he drove off.
Shit, shit, shit.
It'll be ok, right?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I love it, he not going to be beeping at you anytime soon!

pinkpantherpink · 01/10/2018 19:09

Well done on surviving this. While meaning well, he has perhaps realised that women often get harassed while simply walking down the road. And that your response may have been in reaction to past experiences.

Friendlylynn · 01/10/2018 19:18

My immediate reaction was how I'll mannered and utterly disgusting no matter what the excuse. Just because the person was angry, they shouted and deflected their anger to the next poor individual who came along.
Also makes me wonder what they have been taught through life and what they are passing onto any children they have.

Passmethecrisps · 01/10/2018 19:18

That is a great update itchy. It sounds like your boss saw your face as well as hear the words and worked out that you were under a great deal of pressure.

I love a good swear but I am very good at controlling my language. However as I have never been in the situation of having been told a very loved family member is dying of cancer I have absolutely no idea how I would respond at being startled in that way.

It seems to be that more than a few posters have enjoyed a little outrage at your expense OP

Pinklady1982 · 01/10/2018 19:19

I only ever see my manager on a Tuesday due to working part time, and we always end the day with ‘see you next Tuesday’ and a giggle. Wouldn’t quite have the balls to shout it to her face though lol but hey, shit happens, and it’s now all history, so stop stressing and enjoy your time at work looking forward to your promotion. Very sorry for your loss too, I’ve recently lost my father to the awful disease, but also know have some very positive stories where people have got through it. Either way, I wish you all the best, and my thoughts are with you xxx

Apileofballyhoo · 01/10/2018 19:35

Itchy, this made me laugh first. I'm so sorry about your sister. Glad your boss was so understanding. Flowers

Shallishanti123 · 01/10/2018 19:49

"Friendlylynn" not actually very friendly are you, dear?

MissMarplesBloomers · 01/10/2018 20:04

The pompous gits on their high horses evidently don’t realise how they come across

^ This^

It was a funny story & possibly OP would never normally do this but I think the circumstances more than excuse it, & the po-faced-ness of some on here is outstanding ! If you were offended why not just click onto another thread, you;ve clearly not been on MN that long Grin

I find it particularly amusing that the pearl clutching was kicked off by someone with a "hilarious" pun on the cuntiest soft porn crap ever written.

Great follow up Itchy your boss & manager are clearly in the good bosses league, and you never know, now he has realised who you are in the company he might look more closely at your application for promotion.

I am SO sorry to hear about your sister though. Fucking tough.

breastfeedingclownfish · 01/10/2018 20:04

OMG, I'm so sorry about your sister, but this thread is hilarious.

My boss nearly knocked me down when I was staggering across the road on a school night, just after the pub shut . I didn't realise it was him. He asked my how my head was the next day in the first meeting. Luckily my report was faultless....

Lots of judgey nutters on here. I'm an old bag now but I used to often get honked at by randoms in the street and I would tell them to fuck off too.

Flowers for your sister

altiara · 01/10/2018 20:07

Glad you had a good outcome OP, I was worried for you all weekend. Luckily your boss seems to be able to put in into the right context.

Langpants · 01/10/2018 20:09

OP you’re a legend. Ignore the cunt mafia. Glad it’s resolved and everyone has had a laugh. Now if some of Mumsnet population would lighten up...

breastfeedingclownfish · 01/10/2018 20:11

Friendlylynn

Nice 'Who will think of the Chiiiiilddreeeen'.

I’d be more concerned re. your inappropriate use of apostrophes

ethelfleda · 01/10/2018 20:11

I’m sorry about your sister OP.

But this thread did really make me laugh and I’ve had a right —cunt of a— day today.
Your boss is clearly a NORMAL person for taking it the way he did.

I can’t believe the over reaction on here to a WORD. It’s just a WORD. Some of you are behaving like the OP knifed someone!!

ethelfleda · 01/10/2018 20:11

Damn strikeout fail

ItWasntMeItWasIm · 01/10/2018 20:16

Your boss sounds like a decent cunt.

onefootinthegrave · 01/10/2018 20:18

I'm really sorry to hear about your sister, that's horrible news for you to get. And I'm glad your boss didn't take it personally.
I really hate that word, but apart from the c-bomb anything goes, my son refers to me as the female Gordon Ramsay so I'm not in a position to judge. But this had made me think about reigning in my language a bit, because I can guarantee that if this was me I would be sacked on the Monday!
Flowers for you and your sister, and the rest of your family, OP.

babbscrabbs · 01/10/2018 20:18

So glad it worked out. Make sure you let your boss know how much you appreciate him being cool about it and getting coffee, I often think it must be shit being a boss and hard to be a good but nice one.

Personally I'd be more upset that someone had shouted at me at the top of their voice than being called a cunt or whatever.

And yes there is a lot of sanctimony on Mumsnet. It's weird.

derxa · 01/10/2018 20:27

OP you’re a legend. Not really. Anyone can swear like a banshee.

dodgyboat · 01/10/2018 20:29

I haven't read the thread but I've got to tell you, the OP made me laugh. A lot! Thanking you kindly for that! There but for the grace of god etc!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 01/10/2018 20:29

Your boss sounds nice Smile

LydiaLunch7 · 01/10/2018 20:38

One thing this thread highlightsis how important it is to consider things from all angles before jumping in to admonish or defend people when you don't have all the facts.

For example, there have been numerous threads in the past of people committing minor mistakes and then being called a fucking cunt by angry drivers/cyclists/pedestrians, and how much it upset them because they'd been having a tough day, etc. I doubt you'd find anyone on those threads defending the sweary shouter like they are in here.

Lethaldrizzle · 01/10/2018 20:42

Yep shouting and swearing in public just adds to the general aggression on the streets which is only getting worse. There's enough crap out there to deal with, without being called a fucking cunt for a minor misdemeanour

itchybumhole · 01/10/2018 20:46

Yes Lethal, I'm aware that I'm probably responsible for all the unrest and violence on our streets right now. Confused

OP posts:
MrsMozart · 01/10/2018 20:47

Glad all okay with boss. Yay for an understanding human.

Hugs for and about your sister Flowers

Lethaldrizzle · 01/10/2018 21:06

Over reaction somewhat op!
