To be mortified I just shouted 'fuck off you cunt' at my boss.

Bad day, terrible even. Was in a foul mood walking home from work. Crossing road at a T junction with my head down and a car beeped at me as it turned in to the minor road.
Assuming it was an impatient driver who honked at me to get out of the way, I looked up and shouted at the top of my voice 'FUCK OFF YOU CUNT!'
As the last word left my mouth I realised it was my boss and he was pipping his horn and waving to say hello. His window was down so I've no doubt he heard what I said.
We both looked at each other in horror as he drove off.
Shit, shit, shit.
It'll be ok, right?

I get lots of verbal abuse. I'm a cyclist. I've never called any one a cunt let alone a fucking one

As a cyclist, I think if someone puts my life at risk, and they do, with tedious frequency, they deserve every bollocking swearword I can fucking well unleash. Me calling them a fucking cunt is the least of it. They tend to get several references to the small size and inadequate performance of their genitalia, with a lecture on how the wank tank they're driving does not make up for their failings in this department.

OP, I hope it goes OK today. Explain just how bad a day you were having and the street harassment you experience. Apologise for the mistaken identity and move on.

Yourenotericlove · 01/10/2018 06:54

Oh don't go in whining about street harassment, you'll make it worse. Just apologise and hope he still wants to work with you.

KathDayKnight50 · 01/10/2018 09:49

I hope today does well for you, OP.

At least you'll know where you stand which is always easier than the waiting and wondering bit, I find.

You also have some extenuating circumstances if you feel about to discuss your relative's diagnosis with your boss.

Hopefully, your boss is a kind person who will cut another human being some slack.

I really think all this will blow over, I really do.

He's just approached me and apologised for startling me. I don't think he actually caught exactly what I said after all, he just said that he could see by my face that he'd upset me.

I told him I'd spent all weekend worrying that I'd shouted abuse at my boss in the street and joked that I could forget any ideas of promotion now.
He replied 'not at all'. He said if I want to progress I'm doing a good job, to keep it up and we'll get together after the Christmas period to discuss.

Thank fuck for that.

I'm sure that's a relief

KathDayKnight50 · 01/10/2018 09:56

What a great update, OP!

I am so pleased for you. Hahaha at your promotion comment Smile Thank goodness that's all done and dusted now and you can relax.

I am so sorry about your relative, though.

MipMipMip · 01/10/2018 09:58

So glad OP. Seems like a good 'un.

ForgivenessIsDivine · 01/10/2018 09:59

Warm fuzzy feelings that he understood you were probably one of the many women who are just plain fed up of people honking their horns at them. Bring on that promotion and have a celebratory cunting cup of tea!

Liz79 · 01/10/2018 09:59

I think it's a horrendous thing to say to anyone. Worst I'd do is give a death stare, maybe the Vs. Awful.

Gabilan · 01/10/2018 10:05

Thanks for the update OP. Glad he was understanding.

maybe the Vs
That's just a visual representation of what the OP said.

Mommasoph30 · 01/10/2018 10:13

glad it went well, and relax!

Haha,

This thread is the very best, and worst of mumsnet.

Sorry about your relative OP, glad boss was ok this morning

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/10/2018 10:23

Nice update OP. Your boss sounds lovely.

DoYouLikeHueyLewisandTheNews · 01/10/2018 10:28

Excellent outcome. Well done OP!

TatianaLarina · 01/10/2018 10:32

I don't think he actually caught exactly what I said after all, he just said that he could see by my face that he'd upset me.

I’m sure he did that’s why he knew you were upset, but he’s dealt with it extremely well.

Gottagetmoving · 01/10/2018 10:41

I've never called any one a cunt let alone a fucking one

Well aren't you cunting perfect?

Doesn't mean she thinks she is perfect...she just isn't foul 🙄mouthed and probably has respect for people around her.
If you are prepared to shout that out in anger, in public, then you should have the guts to face the consequences and face up to your boss with an explanation.

itchybumhole · 01/10/2018 10:50

He just brought me a coffee. 🤷‍♀️
