Making one tomorrow and won't be bothering with yorkshire puddings, don't care for them at all. I think they're the weakest part of the meal. My other half is aghast at this. wondering what everyone else's perfect Sunday dinner includes

Love yorkies and also honey roast potatoes 😋😋😋😋😋

MrsICantSayMyName · 29/09/2018 18:41

Meat pudding roast if u no u no! Amazing Wink

Jeippinghmip · 29/09/2018 18:41

Beef with horse radish or pork with stuffing and apple sauce or lamb with mint sauce or chicken with stuffing and pigs in blankets, with homemade gravy from the meat juices. Then crispy roasties, well risen Yorkshire Pudding, sprouts, roasted carrots, roasted parsnips, peas, and other veg such as broccoli/cauliflower.

MrsICantSayMyName · 29/09/2018 18:43

@Frogsareawesome they are no way near the same as home made Blush I do eat them tho but defo can't beat a proper home made version with Italian seasoning.

AnnabelTheAntelope · 29/09/2018 18:44

Agreed, Aunt Bessie’s aren’t quite the same. There’s a lingering... frozen taste I think. I also eat them, but for a proper roast, I’d make them. Or usually I just make one big one.

NellMangel · 29/09/2018 18:44

Yabu.

Chicken, Yorkshires, roast potatoes, peas, broccoli, parsnips, swede mash. Gravy and mint sauce.

Also people abu for adding cauliflower cheese (with gravy). Wrong.

BellMcEnd · 29/09/2018 18:45

No Yorkshires?????Shock we’re all vegetarian and we still have loads yorkshires.

We have:- veggie sausages, roast potatoes, roasted parsnips, carrots, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts (the king of veg), bread sauce and a fuckton of thick gravy.

Bloody lush.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/09/2018 18:46

Nothing wrong with the cheese and gravy mixture with roasts. Lush! Grin

catgirl1976 · 29/09/2018 18:46

You have to have Yorkies. It's not a roast without them

If anyone would liketo eat THE perfect roast dinner then go here (you'll thank me)

I went last year and I still dream about it. It was sublime.

ClashCityRocker · 29/09/2018 18:46

I must admit, I'm of the mindset that any meal with gravy neccessitates (sp?) a Yorkshire pudding.

But favourite roast? I love a roast beef with lots of horseradish.

But then with chicken and turkey you get pigs in blankets....

itssquidstella · 29/09/2018 18:46

Roast lamb; roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips; stuffing; tenderstem broccoli; shit loads of homemade gravy 😋

Frogsareawesome · 29/09/2018 18:47

MrsICantSayMyName

True, not as good as homemade although have never tried Italian seasoning. I wouldn't use AB potatoes or parsnips but AB yorkies are definitely better than no yorkies.

itssquidstella · 29/09/2018 18:47

Oh and a whole jar of mint sauce!

HereBeFuckery · 29/09/2018 18:47

Roast lamb, possibly also roast ham. Yorkshire, roast spuds, pigs in blankets, stuffing. Broccoli, carrots, Savoy cabbage and roast parsnips. Gravy. Mint sauce. Red currant sauce for the ham.

Then a double bypass for afters Grin

Frogsareawesome · 29/09/2018 18:48

Would NEVER have peas with a roast though...

Methe · 29/09/2018 18:49

Rare roast beef, mashed potato, Yorkshire puddings, carrots and sprouts, cauliflower cheese, amazing gravy.

AnnabelTheAntelope · 29/09/2018 18:50

Give peas a chance (arf arf)!

You know, give peace a chance... give peas a chance....? I’ll get my coat.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/09/2018 18:53

Mashed Potato? That is a fucking NO NO!

AnnabelTheAntelope · 29/09/2018 18:53

I don’t really like roast potatoes...

FutureDays · 29/09/2018 18:54

Beef or pork, roast potatoes, parsnip, carrots, cauli cheese, red cabbage and broccoli or green beans with yorkie puds

LesLavandes · 29/09/2018 18:54

Christmas lunch😊.

Roast Turkey
Lemon and thyme stuffing
Pork, sage and onion stuffing
Roast potatoes
Pureed celeriac
Brussel sprouts
Pigs in blankets
Bread Sauce
Cranberry sauce
Lashings of Gravy

Yum yum

Notso · 29/09/2018 18:55

Aunt Bessie's are shit, nothing like a real Yorkshire pudding. I'd rather have none if that's all there was.
You can freeze homemade Yorkshire and cook them from frozen. They tend to go a bit more crispy than I'd like but they are much nicer than Aunt-Can't-cook-a-Yorkshire-Bessie's.

OldShuck · 29/09/2018 18:58

Roast rib eye Beef
Yorkshire pudding
Roast tatties
Cauliflower
Leeks in a cheese sauce
Broccoli
Thick gravy

scaryteacher · 29/09/2018 19:00

Having been forced to eat Yorkshire puddings every bloody Sunday when I was growing up and every Christmas Day, I only serve them with beef, and at no other time. I will cook them, but reserve the right not to eat them.

My ideal roast would be pork or chicken, the pork must have crackling. Goose fat roasted potatoes, thick unctuous gravy, cauliflower cheese, peas, roasted parsnips and perhaps some carrots, Stuffing with the chicken and perhaps bread sauce, and apple sauce with the pork.

ShadyLady53 · 29/09/2018 19:01

Roast Lamb with mint sauce and gravy, roast potatoes, carrot and swede mash with lots of butter and black pepper and savoy cabbage.
