To want to know why employers don't want to interview me?

After 11 years working freelance, I have decided I'd like a job. I've done well as a freelance writer and have my own website with a lot of examples and background information but can't seem to get an interview.

Is the problem likely to be my CV? Or is it because I've been self-employed?

I'm a copywriter and I've been commissioned by very well-known organisations and worked for a tonne of digital marketing agencies but no bugger will see me!

I've been applying for digital content writing positions...I always go for things I know I can do well. But nothing! Not a peep. What shall I do?

Have you asked them for feedback at all?

A lot of the time employers are wary about taking people who have been freelance. In my experience their concerns are the following:

  1. Is the candidate only looking for paid employment due to a dry patch and will they jump ship when the market picks up.
  1. How will they cope with being managed.

Have you registered with any agencies? They might be worth a try. A shorter term role might also be helpful to make the move from freelance to perm?

I wonder whether they think you'll go back to freelance, taking clients with you?
