To ask about your c section overhangs?

As in can you ever get rid of them?

I had twins by c section on 16/08/18. Stomach has now mostly gone down (although oddly jelly like, even when I’m lying down and it’s flat!) However I have a small, but noticeable overhang. Will it ever go away? Can they be shifted?

Stories (both good and bad) much appreciated please😊

I had my Bubba in mid April of this year, I was quite athleticish before and had a c section, mine isn't too noticeable stood up, and is sort of there when sat down, your tummy will go down, it just takes time x

FlibbertyGiblets · 29/09/2018 15:58

I see your overhang and raise you a foldover. Grrrr. Big babies.

SadieLancaster · 29/09/2018 16:00

Huge babies here.

Tummy tuck.

iliketomoveitmoveitMOVEIT · 29/09/2018 16:02

I had one before the c-section, sadly Blush

runsmidgeOMG · 29/09/2018 16:11

I had my DD feb 2016 sadly my tummy/overhang hasn't gone away. That said I haven't really put too much effort in. Tried planking/30 day challenges and the likes but no avail. Were planning another DC when they decide to show so hoping to get on top of it after that.
Hope motherhood is treating you well otherwise Thanks

leighdinglady · 29/09/2018 16:11

December baby here and it's almost gone. Give it time

GoodbyeSummer · 29/09/2018 16:16

Nearly 8 years since my c section I still have the overhang. It's bigger now I've put lots of weight on (again...) but even when I was a healthy weight it was there. It's still a little numb in places too. My baby wasn't that big either, only 8lb 7oz.

weaningwoe · 29/09/2018 16:21

Giant baby, still very much there. Admittedly, I have neither dieted nor attempted any real exercise to get rid of it. My baby wasn’t born much before yours though. It’s worse on one side, where I think the surgeon did another small incision to get DS’ huge head out Blush

My belly button looks like a drawing pin holding a sheet up. Envy (not envy)

UnderMajorDomoMinor · 29/09/2018 16:24

Babies born 2011 & 2014. Stomach texture of a duvet and overhang of skin still present. You can tone up muscle and lose fat but only an apronectomy will solve a skin overhang.

Tuck it in your knickers and forget about it!

My overhang was gone by about 6 months post partum. Just the big scar visible still. Now pregnant again and planning an elective c section, so will have to see what happens this time. For you it's still early days so try to not worry!

Cattenberg · 29/09/2018 16:33

DD is six months old and I still have a c-section overhang. It's only small though, so it may have shrunk. And it's now overshadowed by a much bigger cake overhang. I've just started trying to lose weight, so I'll see what happens.

Weaningwoe, my belly button was much the same. I thought it would never go back to its pre-pregnancy state, but by about five months post birth, it had.

I also had a road map of stretch marks on my tummy, and they're now virtually invisible.

MistyMinge · 29/09/2018 16:44

Both my DC were c-section. They're now 3 and 6. It wasn't too bad after 1st but much more noticeable after 2nd, especially after I stopped breastfeeding. I hate my stomach. I could do with losing a couple of stone and toning up, which I'm sure would help. Not sure I'd ever be totally rid of it though.

weaningwoe · 29/09/2018 16:44

Much to my embarrassment, I didn’t read the date in the OP and I am in fact about a year further on the overhang timeline than OP @Cattenberg. Think my poor belly button is here to stay!

Fatted · 29/09/2018 16:47

My overhang has been there for 5 years. But then I've had another huge baby since then and not really got back to a healthy weight. So I have no one to blame but myself

Gardenpicnic · 29/09/2018 16:53

I have had 4 c sections, my tummy will not win any awards.

Friend nearly died having tummy tuck though so I am just going to live with it Wink

Funnyface1 · 29/09/2018 16:54

I've had two c sections 8 and 2 years ago. Mine wasn't good after my first baby but they did a really good Jun the second time and it's so much neater, comfortable and just nicer. I thought it was something I'd always live with but my second baby was my last so my neater scar is here to stay, I'm lucky.

Funnyface1 · 29/09/2018 16:54

Jun=job

Echobelly · 29/09/2018 16:57

I had 2 c-sections 3 years apart, and I always had a stomach that was fairly large relative to the rest of me, so honestly it didn't make much difference to my shape down there.

Phillipa12 · 29/09/2018 17:00

4 sections with 4 very large babies, my overhang could win an award!

ShowOfHands · 29/09/2018 17:01

I'm a v fit size 8 with pretty good abs and core in general. My last cs was 7 years ago. The overhang is exactly the same as it was at 3 months postpartum. Without surgery, it will never go.

Most overhangs will never go completely.

OldShuck · 29/09/2018 17:03

Still got mine 12 years later.

Fairylea · 29/09/2018 17:06

I still have mine 6 years later despite losing 3 stone and doing dance cardio 4 times a week. It doesn’t bother me to be honest. I feel I do the best I can with my body and it’s done me a service and that’s all that matters to me. When I put high waisted jeans on it sucks it all in and I look like I did pre kids. It’s all an illusion! Grin

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 29/09/2018 17:07

Just over six weeks since? Give it time....

Knowivedonewrong · 29/09/2018 17:08

21 years ago. Still there. 🤔

GerdaLovesLili · 29/09/2018 17:13

10 years later. Horrid overhang. Still no stomach muscles, they're still about as divided as it's possible to be.

Can someone please tell us more about tummy-tucks? Cost, recovery, ouch-ness scale etc.?

Thank You
