To ask about your c section overhangs?

As in can you ever get rid of them?

I had twins by c section on 16/08/18. Stomach has now mostly gone down (although oddly jelly like, even when I’m lying down and it’s flat!) However I have a small, but noticeable overhang. Will it ever go away? Can they be shifted?

Stories (both good and bad) much appreciated please😊

4yrs post 10lb 5oz baby by CS and still have a big overhang. Had 2nd baby normally which has added insult to injury 🤦🏼‍♀️

ThursdayLastWeek · 29/09/2018 17:18

Mine doesn’t over hang so much, but from the side I have a definite 'seam' that I don’t think will ever go away. Like too tight sewing on a piece of fabric.

2 x c section, last one 2.5years ago

ConfusedMum82 · 29/09/2018 17:20

2008 emergency section.
Still have overhang. Even losing weight as that made it more obvious. Was promised corrective surgery but obviously that never happened in the end down to cut backs.

I’ve had two sections & don’t have one.

Give yourself more time Flowers

ExploryRory · 29/09/2018 17:26

Ive lost 4 stone and go to the gym every day. It’s still there. Sadly I think it always will be because it’s loose skin, not fat.

MiddlingMum · 29/09/2018 17:30

My twins are adults. I am quite slim but have an overhang. My children have always been awesome, and if that is the result of them being born alive and growing up healthy then I'm fine with it.

I do realise that others might be more concerned, especially if they want to wear bikinis or whatever.

missyB1 · 29/09/2018 17:31

3 babies by C section, last one 9 years ago. I’ve always been slim and still am, overhang is still there....

Roomba · 29/09/2018 17:32

Two c sections - one in 2005 that was a huge, swollen, gaping infected mess afterwards and one in 2012 that was straightforward. No overhang here, though I am fairly slim. I did have a small overhang after DS1 so wonder if they removed some scar tissue or something underneath when they did my second section? Or maybe it just looks better as I lost a bit of weight, I don't know.

Oblomov18 · 29/09/2018 17:34

2 x school: 15 and 10 years ago.
Bad overhang.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 29/09/2018 17:34

I almost got rid of mine after my first c section and was a tiny bit of skin hanging over but after 4 c sections it is bigger than ever. I am a couple of stone overweight though, so I'm hoping after weight loss it will go small again.

Please go over to the thread FuckItAndPassMeTheWine started. She’s given me some tips for getting rid / reducing it

FaFoutis · 29/09/2018 17:36

I had 3 babies by C-section, last one 10 years ago. I'm slim and I still have an overhang. You get used to it.

CatulusLady78 · 29/09/2018 17:37

Permanent feature Sad I'm afraid. Nice pants of a 'light support' type are your friend! M&S do some nice ones.

Spanx are your new best friend.

They give me underhang yeast infections :-(

Lolly86 · 29/09/2018 17:44

Small.baby (4lb6) c section and overhang is still there. I need to lose a few pounds but even so I think it's a permanent fixture nowGrin

rollonoctober · 29/09/2018 18:24

I think there are degrees of overhang. On these threads you always get people saying to give it time, lose weight, do certain exercises etc and it'll go. But if you have a proper 'mother's apron' type overhang then none of those things will help because, as a pp said, it's loose skin, not fat. I've had 3 c-sections and have always lost all my weight afterwards and am a regular gym goer, but will never get rid of my overhang without surgery.

TheBeastInMsRooneysRoom · 29/09/2018 23:23

I had an extended tummy tuck to get rid of the mothers apron I was left with after 3 caesareans, big babies (one transverse 10lb-er) and 100lb weight loss. Best thing I ever did. My weight has fluctuated a bit, but my stomach has stayed flat. I agree with Gerda . Spanx = Yeast infection if it's a loose skin thing.

AnotherPidgey · 29/09/2018 23:47

Massive bump + EMCS= flabby crimpiline belly flobbling around 8 years later. I went back from my 43 inch pregnancy waist to a 27-28 inch waist marginally thicker than before, but the wobble ain't going anywhere by any pleasant and natural method.

It's the flaccid bulginess against any waistband I hate, particularly as I have minimal bust to counter balance it.

Its numb existence did not help with dealing with birth trauma, sitting there as a constant physical reminder. I have grudingly accepted that the bastard is a permanent feature over the years.

The kids love blowing raspberries on it Hmm

lifeofdreams · 29/09/2018 23:57

Yep. Two c sections and you could hide stuff under the over hang 🙄

Childrenofthesun · 30/09/2018 00:03

What was your stomach like before? I have only had one section (9lb+ baby) 8 years ago but I don't have any kind of overhang. I'm slim but have quite a wobbly belly otherwise.

HP07 · 30/09/2018 00:07

I am 4 months post partum and have an overhang and still very numb in a large portion of my tummy. I hate it. It makes me feel awful to look at it and touch it. If it never improves I’m not sure how’s I can live with it like that forever. I’m hoping it will get better. The worst part for me is the numbness as it doesn’t feel like part of my body but the overhang is also bad. I was a fairly slim size 10 after my first baby (vaginal delivery) but after my second, who was only small as she was prem, I feel like I look awful when I’m undressed.

MagnaDoodle · 30/09/2018 00:11

Mine really gets me down. I’m 14 months past my second c section and that area is a fucking wreck. I can’t get clothes that hide it.

I’m not having another section. If I fall pregnant again (accidentally) I’ll take my fucking chances.

Happinessisabook · 30/09/2018 00:13

This was mine 15w pp
It's pretty much gone now a few more months on
I just tucked it into my jeans until it went.
