AIBU?
Moaners!!!

AIBU to be sick of moaners at work?
Literally it's doing my head in. There's one guy at work that causes issues for everyone. We have a group chat on WhatsApp that had about 20 of us in and everyone spends their evenings moaning about this one bloke. In the office, they moan about him. Outside of work, they moan about him. There are a couple of people that have been really affected by this behaviour and they too moan, moan, moan.
I get it, the guy is a douchebag. He's a first class muppet who drives everyone else nuts, but why the CONSTANT moaning?!! It's all anyone has to talk about.
AIBU to find it draining? What's the best way to deal with a full office of constant moaners?

Yes I’d also find that draining- I would make an obvious point of changing the subject even if it was about the weather to let your colleagues know you are tired with the moaning
ShirleyPhallus · 28/09/2018 19:52
I think that kind of behaviour is awful and would say on the group “I’m not comfortable speaking about someone like this so I’ll be leaving the group”
Then I’d just fuck off
Really stupid to slag off work colleagues in a whatsapp group where it’s all documented
Aleenia · 28/09/2018 19:55
Exactly @ShirleyPhallus - don't get me wrong the bloke is an idiot and I have witnessed some of his bullying behaviour, but as far as I can see, nobody has actually reported him. It's just SO boring. He's also my direct line manager and as much as I would never grass on anyone, it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.
PumpkinPie2016 · 28/09/2018 20:04
YANBU he might be irritating but constant moaning about him isn't going to change that and it's draining to listen to constant moaning! I'd just leave the group tbh.
I work with someone who constantly moans about anything and everything and it really is wearing
Aleenia · 28/09/2018 20:05
@Disquieted1 yes!!!!!! I'm so sorry for moaning about moaners but I really just needed to vent! Difference is people don't have to read the thread like I have to listen to the moaning
FruitCider · 28/09/2018 20:08
I agree with chips sounds like work place bullying to me....
Aleenia · 28/09/2018 20:10
Probably! I've just left the group because I'm fed up of it.
Notsohorriblehistory · 28/09/2018 20:11
Why isn’t he in this group?
It’s sounds bloody awful place to work. And I’m not referring to this “douchebag” as you call him
Aleenia · 28/09/2018 20:12
@Notsohorriblehistory there's a difference between having to vent out something that has been bothering you for days and days to a group of strangers on the internet who don't actually have to read the thread, and a group of colleagues who constantly moan about one person day in, day out, to the point that it drives you a little nuts!
Aleenia · 28/09/2018 20:17
@Notsohorriblehistory he's a manager and he's just not in the group. We work in an office of over 100 people not everyone is in it and most high up managers aren't either. It crosses a bit of a boundary doesn't it. I don't use the group. I don't ever comment in it. I actually have it muted and only occasionally read what's been written in it. It's used for social events which I find helpful.
He is a bit of a douchebag. Might not be your choice of word, fair enough. But everyone knows it. He's been the same way since he's worked there. I'm venting on here as I'm ready to flip out at my colleagues if I have to hear his name mentioned one more time!
Notsohorriblehistory · 28/09/2018 20:17
Yes the solution to both scenarios is exactly the same.
Leave the thread.
Which is what I am doing now!
brokenharbour · 28/09/2018 20:18
Oh yes, you need to be very careful. Keep well out of it! They are idiots.
Aleenia · 28/09/2018 20:19
Ok notso thanks for contributing 👋🏽
I've left the group. how liberating!
Nightwatch999 · 28/09/2018 20:46
Remove yourself away from them everyone they start moaning. Do not engage at all, sounds like you work with a group of bully's
