Looks like I need a "mumsnet deleted this comment" slogan jumper.

Come on MN, surely we have the right to reply? Or do I take it as a given that I am a moron, a bitch, lazy?

Elephantinacravat · 02/10/2018 17:23

I would love a sweatshirt with UNREASONABLE emblazoned across the front.

Cobrider · 02/10/2018 17:23

Just had a look at smug’s supporters and have unfollowed a fair view, bit surprised at some of their comments actually.

MrBull · 02/10/2018 17:27

I'm feeling quite smug that they've proved they're all capable of being just as bitchy as any of the bitchy comments I've seen on here 👏🏻

POT KETTLE BLACK

There's another one.

And I am angry now, the comment about being lucky to be on a thread about jumpers and not disability or cancer. How dare they assume that it is mutually exclusive? How absolutely stupid do you have to be to think that many of us are not capable of caring about our children’s disabilities and illnesses too or that we are not exposed to that.
Shutting down the conversation nicely there.

MrBull · 02/10/2018 17:29

That sweater comment was ridiculous though.
I think that poster actually thought this whole forum was just about sweaters Grin

Why is ok to criticise Philip Green or Eamon Holmes but not an influencer? Why is it ok for S&B to have thread after thread of M&S monstrosities but not a slogan sweater? The world has gone mad!

batshite1 · 02/10/2018 17:43

what about that bloody giant christmas thing someone linked to on ebay?

MrBull · 02/10/2018 17:45

A post from the sweater thread:

Given this thread started as someone disliking them due to wanting to be a parent and difficulty concieving, I thought the IG post was incredibly distasteful and really judgemental.

Hadn't actually noticed myself that was the OP's experience but it does make the "people don't like my jumpers" insta post from SM seem even more unreasonable now.

@cadyheron are you purposefully missing what I was talking about? I’m not talking about charging people who have big houses. I’m talking about people who monetise their accounts and in many cases make lots of money. I know small handmade accounts which I like very much and make their living off there, I’m not in anyway upset they do, but it’s a thread theme that there’s no regulation regarding having to disclose adverts and gifts or use of kids. So if you had a business account that was charged it would make it a very different platform.

ivegotatheoryitcouldbebunnies1 · 02/10/2018 17:50

@mumsnet you need to stop stifling the debate, they can say what they like about mumsnetters on instagram and it isn’t getting censored. I was one of those that asked for posts about she who can't be named to be deleted. But it’s going way beyond that now, you’re deleting anything and everything. Yet all the comments remain intact on instagram.

CadyHeron · 02/10/2018 17:52

Why is ok to criticise Philip Green or Eamon Holmes but not an influencer?

At a guess, the influencers on this thread are mums, most of them just ordinary mums trying to earn a bit of extra money if they're fortunate enough to be able to. Probably users of this site themselves.
This is a site for parents, and support for all parents, or at least it's supposed to be.
Whether it be people tearing down other mums in the form of threads sneering at homemade gifts/bitching about their homes and/or looks etc on IG, not really the same as your example, although obviously nastiness there is awful too. Parents are parents needing support whether they're IGers or not.

Mightymousie · 02/10/2018 17:58

@cadyheron
I think it’s quite well established that many of the exceptionally privileged white mummas making a little bit of pocket money, mentioned on here are not regular mumsnet users and coming here for support. And I’ve not seen any sneering and bitching about homes and or looks at all on this thread or any for a very long time, so I can only assume you’ve slipped that in there for the express use of Instagram to reassure them when they pop over, that of course it’s going on. But it isn’t.

batshite1 · 02/10/2018 17:59

But Philip Green came from nothing & is a parent too. I don’t understand why I shouldn’t criticise an influencer (i follow/followed fashion ones) just because they are mums. I’m a mum, it’s never come up in any work appraisal.

Scientistic · 02/10/2018 18:04

If anyone wants someone who speaks sense to follow in this, insidemumvoice has put a nice post up.

Elephantinacravat · 02/10/2018 18:05

What about the FB tat threads, they are always allowed to stand - if you came across one of your own creations on there you would be pretty gutted, people don't hold back!

CadyHeron · 02/10/2018 18:07

And I’ve not seen any sneering and bitching about homes and or looks at all on this thread or any for a very long time,

Seriously? You can't have been looking very hard then. I guess it's true you only see what you want to see (collective you) and blank the rest out.

Scientistic · 02/10/2018 18:08

Phillip Green doesn't give enough of a crap to sue. This isn't his market. Mumsnet panic as their market is Instagram to a large degree. Mumsnet bad press on Instagram = advertisers pulling out.

Phillip Green doesn't have that issue.

It doesn't make it right. Personally I'd rather no-one got horribly bashed, be it him or them. But constructive criticism and opinion should be fairly allowed across the board.

But yeah, it all boils down to the business model. Mumsnet know how fickle web users are these days and how much advertising revenue they need to stay relevant.

batshite1 · 02/10/2018 18:09

Exactly Scientistic

CadyHeron · 02/10/2018 18:09

Yep, they're pretty ferocious, I suppose they're more general though and not just piling on to certain ones repeatedly.
If you saw your own creations and yourself on there being pulled to pieces I bet you could get it taken down from the thread though if you were upset. Smile

fruitshot · 02/10/2018 18:13

You might need to point me in the direction where the parent needed support on that post and the following comments on it...

Mightymousie · 02/10/2018 18:17

@cadyheron what on this thread there’s bitching and slagging off homes and people personally? You must be very thin skinned. I don’t make comments I wouldn’t make to someone. If I met FOD I’d happily tell him he’s nuts and his dancing is cringe, I’m sure he’s a nice bloke, I wouldn’t shout it at him, I’d laugh (hopefully with him not at him if you get my meaning) I think many homes on Instagram are way to grey- what’s with that l? But I’m a rainbow person. They have beautiful homes though. I personally think you are making things into far more than they are.

Mightymousie · 02/10/2018 18:19

Has anyone else seen anyone bitching about instamums looks on here? Am I just seeing what I want to see?

CadyHeron · 02/10/2018 18:20

Mightymousie - wasn't meaning this thread as much, but you did say "on here or for a very long time."
There's definitely been some on the numerous previous threads.

Mightymousie · 02/10/2018 18:23

@spiritleveller interesting posts about the ads/finance etc btw
