MNHQ will take this thread down again if we're not careful here. I agree that the post from the person in question was very obviously looking for a reaction but there's no point fuelling the fire further. All that results is a deleted thread and a "see, those bitches were at it again" with the proof of what was actually said gone.

There's some useful discussion on here which would be a shame to lose. Again!

SpiritLeveller · 30/09/2018 18:37

I agree with you @mrbull. Would rather the ad discussion stays up. The threads only get deleted when accusations of bullying start.

EvePolastri · 30/09/2018 18:43

glagdy that's how I know, the insta pic just posted as well as the comments etc

Not sure why Instagram would delete it though, it was tame compared to some of the pics FOD puts up of his twins!

SpiritLeveller · 30/09/2018 18:46

You are falling for it, every time...

Sofialemon · 30/09/2018 19:00

I don't think she necessarily does it for a reaction on here, although her previous posts and threads on here about them certainly gained her a lot of followers. She's lost quite a lot lately though so it seems at least some people are realising a lot of what she posts is a load of crap.

I am surprised that pic was deleted though, it doesn't seem any different to many others on insta. Maybe it wasn't really deleted by insta and that's just another story.

MightyMousie · 30/09/2018 19:19

Those posts are for outrage and attention whether it’s here or elsewhere, so best just to leave if where it is.
True though FOD has posted more nakedness and Clover posted a photo with visible child genitals and it was left up.

MightyMousie · 30/09/2018 19:22

Issue with accounts after suspension-the mightymousey account now closed. Not sock puppeting.

EvePolastri · 30/09/2018 19:28

Why were you suspended?

MightyMousie · 30/09/2018 19:51

I said earlier in the thread, it was regarding SWSNBN. I was trying to express my unease at her posts. They felt my wording was off (fair enough but there was far worse not deleted and I genuinely meant I felt uneasy) but there you go. When I came back in I accidentally came on with a really old account I didn’t know I still had.

CherryCone · 30/09/2018 20:20

@MightyMousie huh? Sorry but I don't understand. Why would you need to close your MightyMousey account now even if you did accidentally come back in on an old one?

MightyMousie · 30/09/2018 20:36

@cherrycone mumsnet Head quarters said I wasn’t allowed 2 accounts and to choose which one, the one that had been suspended had some private messages I wanted access to so I wanted to keep that one open. The mightymousey one I must’ve set up years ago and not really used.

*We need you to choose which account you'd to use as we don't allow multiple accounts - we've suspended both and will wait to hear back from you.

Best wishes

Selfish Mother yesterday did one of the support posts for S&D after Next copied their jumper design.
I’m not into stealing people’s ideas but telling her supporters to boycott the big brands and shop independent is tone-deaf privilege. As if mummy normal can afford to dress her kids in clothes solely from the likes of Selfish Mother and Scamp & Dude.
It’s yet another way to pile on the mummy guilt.
Plus, one lone descenting voice in the comments who argued that the high street is more affordable got jumped on and told that ‘CHILDREN MAKE THOSE CHEAP CLOTHES FOR YOU YOU EVIL WITCH’ or something similar.
It’s irresponsible bullshit.

EeebyMum · 01/10/2018 07:53

She’s edited the post now to remove the #boycottbigbrands tag

MightyMousie · 01/10/2018 08:02

@eeebymum I unfollowed the selfish mother and her other shop/magazine. She has raised a lot for charity which is great, but somehow when all these mums get all the freebies and insta-wealth they seem to forget what it was like to be living a not-privileged life. Those jumpers and scalp and dude are ridiculously overpriced. And of the back of them last year she posted a photo of her kids in cute little blazers starting a new school, obviously didn’t blur out the School logo and it’s a very expensive, lovely private school. I’m not for a minute dissing people’s choice to go private and in these times I’d love to myself (state schools being under so much pressure your kids can’t even be ill) but clearly she’s making a lot of money out of all of this. And to be that fortunate you should still be aware that many people still have to shop in sales and supermarkets for their clothes.

EeebyMum · 01/10/2018 08:10

‘...and to be that fortunate you should still be aware that many people still have to shop in sales and supermarkets for their clothes‘

I agree completely with the @mightmousie Selfish Mother has told her followers to ‘’make clever spending choices and support small wares’ honestly the guilt-tripping and privilege in this statement is outrageous.

MightyMousie · 01/10/2018 08:27

@eebymum I’ve just gone to have a look. Scamp and dude, well I’ve not looked before and not sure what the big deal is. It seems a lot of overpriced animal print clothing in matching adult and kid ranges. Evidently these clothes encourage your child to be kind. And apparently if your jacket says a certain slogan, they will be reminded a superhero has there back. Probably worn by the children least likely to need a superhero.
I admit I’m not a fan, I’m more likely to lust after a colourful Boden jumper for my child because I like fun and I really hate animal print and I hate slogans. I’m not sure what the hype is. Then I see they are sold in Liberty and Harrods. Are these people for real?!
I try to shop ethically, and I try to shop carefully but money is very tight and to me shopping locally is supporting little businesses (which I’m sure they started out as) but not overpriced jumpers sold in Harrods.

MightyMousie · 01/10/2018 08:33

I’ve scoured their website and I’m confused. They are promoting clothes to make your child feel loved when you are not there. But I can’t find anything about where they are manufactured or their ethics. There’s nothing I can easily find to suggest these products weren’t made by children.
Surely this info should be promoted and highlighted? Where are the clothes made and by whom?

EeebyMum · 01/10/2018 08:37

The S&D have a good premise and SM give a % per sale to charity, this is all brilliant.
Don’t make people who buy their clothes from ‘less ethical’ shops like ASDA feel like shit. That’s the worst. It reminds me of J Oliver reprimanding the country for not buying organic free-range £10 chickens.

SpiritLeveller · 01/10/2018 08:44

I think S&D have a good ethos and if you are into the brand you are probably going to spot a lookie likey a mile off and unlikely to get a substitute from Next. It’s a good way to get cheap PR though I suppose 🤷🏼‍♀️

MightyMousie · 01/10/2018 09:06

It’s great they give a percentage to charity, (is that all items or just selected collaborations?) I didn’t find info on their website easily, and usually if you have a good ethos you promote it clearly.
I cannot find info on where their clothes are manufactured? I must be missing it.
They must have ethically sourced fabrics and manufacturers to warrant those prices and the support? If they just use the same factories as high street brands then the whole thing is ridiculous. Often companies all use the same manufacturers so you do need to be careful. There’s nothing organic promoted or supporting lives at the manufacturing end, this would put me off.

EeebyMum · 01/10/2018 09:09

The ethics & ethos of the brands aren’t the issue. It’s Selfish Mother telling all her followers to #boycottthehighstreet whilst selling an expensive lifestyle.

EeebyMum · 01/10/2018 09:11

Though yes if the products were being made in the same place as the high street then the ethical argument is not strong

MightyMousie · 01/10/2018 09:12

@eeebymum I can’t find any info to say they are more ethical than Asda!! Please someone link it!!
Donating a small percent to charity looks great but what’s going on before that point? Here’s Boden’s info
www.boden.co.uk/content/dam/boden/common/documents/boden_modern_slavery_statement_2017_update_26_07_17.pdf#Footer
Where’s scamp and dudes? Buying clothes ethically if I can afford to is important to me and if they are being promoted as having good ethos and being ethically sound it should be easily available information.

MightyMousie · 01/10/2018 09:17

Sorry @eeebymum but if followers are putting others down on ethics and buying clothes ‘made by children’ it is important. There’s nothing I can find that warrants the price tag. If ‘Joan sat at her table handstitching an organic woven sweatshirt’ I’d get the ethics and price tag. But if one privileged mama orders a batch of jumpers from the same supplier as multiple others, you may as well buy your jumper from M&S or asda and donated a couple of £ to charity. You are just lining pockets. Comments are about ‘buying cheap’ and ‘using your purse’ but on what?

EeebyMum · 01/10/2018 09:18

@mightymousie the last time this came up I couldn’t find any info about S&D either - another poster told me the story behind them, I can’t remember any details tho
